Don’t forget she isn’t just our queen it’s absolutely huge this.
Absolutely agree. I notice that the BBC newsreaders are now wearing black ties. I suspect that the announcement is not far off, the family will gather first and then we will hear the news. My guess is that she has already left us.I’m no fan of the monarchy and have been very vocal about it in the past. So instead of voicing my disapproval, I’ll just keep quiet.
That’s how every anti-monarchist should carry on at the moment.
I think your right or close to itAbsolutely agree. I notice that the BBC newsreaders are now wearing black ties. I suspect that the announcement is not far off, the family will gather first and then we will hear the news. My guess is that she has already left us.
Oh and point of pedantry it will be "Operation Unicorn" that is put into place which is the plan for the Queen dying in Scotland.
Crass and beneath him? His mother has just passed and he's not especially enamoured with the level of faux grief levelled at one of the most privileged people in modern history.I'm genuinely sorry for your loss 1finny, but your comment is crass and absolutely beneath you.
It is, but it shouldn't be. I'm a republican, but I can distinguish between the person and the role. Some people will feel upset, and that is their prerogative, She has been a periphery figure throughout my life, so I get it. People will feel upset, emotions will be high, royalists will be unyielding in their defence of the crown, and republicans will be unyielding in why its a negative that enables the continuation of nobility. The fact is none of us have lived through anything like this before. But it’s going to be huge.
It’s truly global
The guys lost his mum, a very real and ever present influence in his life. He seems to see the crassness in people fawning over someone that really is less important through his eyes. That's his right to feel that way, and I totally get itI'm genuinely sorry for your loss 1finny, but your comment is crass and absolutely beneath you.
I doubt she reads this board even when she's well.Doesn't look good, hope you get better your majesty.
Only one comment that’s crass and it’s not what finny wroteI'm genuinely sorry for your loss 1finny, but your comment is crass and absolutely beneath you.
There are good presidents out there, but the key is a proper, robust written constitution that limits the powers of the corrupt presidents......otherwise you end up with a scenario where they can act grossly with absolute impunity, rather like royals can and have at times. The English Civil War was not a revolution or a class war but a regional war.
The north was Royalist.
I understand the republicanism on here. But not that of Presidents like Trump & Putin.
not to out pedant you but it's both unicorn and london bridgeAbsolutely agree. I notice that the BBC newsreaders are now wearing black ties. I suspect that the announcement is not far off, the family will gather first and then we will hear the news. My guess is that she has already left us.

Or like the current government. There are good presidents out there, but the key is a proper, robust written constitution that limits the powers of the corrupt presidents......otherwise you end up with a scenario where they can act grossly with absolute impunity, rather like royals can and have at times.
As you have mentioned it -Makes me sad.
An absolute bedrock of stability and dignity in an extraordinary period of history and an extraordinary life for her. What a cultural shift it would be for us all not to have Queen Elizabeth II around. I mean she’s been on every coin since long before my parents were born.
There’s a time and a place for discussion about the politics and point of it all, and I’m not a diehard royalist. But she’s a big part of all of our identities as British people and couldn’t have more respect for the woman, a remarkable person and life.
Thoughts are with her family tbh.
