The rugby world cup begins tomorrow!

George ford the key player might not even play once Farrell returns so lots of question still to answer.

My point is that it wasn’t through great team link up play it was largely opportunist.

So it will be interesting how this weekend goes
Not sure what you expected 14 men to do against a very good and dangerous Argentinian team who had recently beaten us. You need to give credit to England for a brilliant defensive display.

The French anthem is brilliant. In fact, most are apart from England.

Edit. Add Scotland to the bad list too. It’s rubbish in my opinion.

Uruguay beating France.

Never thought I'd get to say that! Never actually seen them play. I wonder if their rugby team is as given to shiphousery as their football team?

Imho the French anthem is the best in the world. It's as bloodthirsty, vibrant and stirring as a national anthem should be.

Although I disagree with you about scotland. I also think that's one of the best, that and Russia completing my top three.

Stood in an england shirt at Murrayfield as the native a cappella the second verse is quite a thing.

I was once in Murrayfield and before the anthems, I said to my son (16 at the time) that when they sing Flower of Scotland the airs on the back of your neck stand up. The guy behind of must have heard and when they started singing he had hold of my son's shoulders and on every syllable, he shook him. My son crapped himself whilst me and the singer just smiled in the knowledge it was all in jest.

The lone piper on the roof is something else and sounds very eerie when they first start.

I wonder why the English referee who speaks perfect French doesn’t get more of the France games.

For issue with Flower of Scotland is it perpetuates the myth Scottish people have of England. Some are almost defined by the so called hatred of England.

I have Scottish family and love the country. If asking my family why they hate English sporting teams they can’t give an answer. Often it’s “the media”.

Flower of Scotland is quite dreary too. Like God Save the King or Queen is. Give me France or Italy anytime.

If this France tackle isn't a red card, I genuinely don't understand what the rules are.

Not that I had a great grasp on them to begin with.

I've got to disagree about being dreary and it certainly gets the locals going.

I also like Ireland's Call.

Scotland the Brave is miles better.

The worst thing about Flower of Scotland is that it's an inherently negative message and it's got an undeniable anti-English tinge to it, especially given it was only written in the 1960s.

Whether you support Scottish independence or not, I don't think it's a great idea to have a national anthem that's quite negative about your nearest neighbour and biggest trading partner.

Rules seem open to interpretation like many sports. The non try for Uruguay was for me at least a try because the so called offender of the obstruction was very much incidental due in part to the way that the move was constructed by Uruguay. As for the yellow, if that’s not intentional— to harm and take out the opposing player then I don’t know what is.

I would say that what national anthems are about. All the good ones are kind of bloodthirsty and you tend to have most wars with your neighbours.

I'm not sure he was incidental. I might be wrong but it looked to me the player he took out was running to cover the gap the ball carrier went through. The only issue I had with it is he was running a genuine line and it was a legitimate dummy run

French fans booing taking the shot from the penalty.

Their famously fickle crowds at it again.

Missing it can't have helped either!
