The Schmeichels

Gudjohnsons were the ones that sprung to mind for me. I think Eidur might be the only player to come on as sub for his Dad in an international match?

I wondered about the Charltons (brothers, I know) but Jackie didn't get close.

The Ayew brothers both have over 100 caps for Ghana, but their dad only got into the 70s; would have made 100 easily in the modern game.

Always felt a bit sorry for Kasper; from the age of 17, his middle name has been "not as good as his dad". Worth remembering that Peter didn't move to England until his late 20s and probably made his mistakes before anyone here had heard of him. Not many keepers have been in his class since, but they're not burdened by comparrison.

I was just looking online to see if I could see anyone who comes close but can't find any.
But I did see George Weah got 70+ caps for Liberia(and was also president of the country until recently) his son Timothy Weah has 30+ caps for the USA which I found interesting as Timothy Weah was playing for A different national team from which his dad was head of state.

Good shout with “Pele”!

I think that’ll be the closest. And like you say, he played for his country for 15+ years - that would easily be 100+ caps these days

I thought the Haaland's might be in with a shout but Alfie only got 34 caps.
Erling will probably get 100.

A bit of a pivot to a cricket question with a similar theme....

Can you name the only father and son that played test cricket together?
