The space shuttle that fell to earth

I never caught the program but I remember when it happened As tragic as it was the real sad point for me was the teacher who was just going to teach kids from space.

I remember her interview weeks before the flight saying I’m no astronaut I’m just a teacher who just wants to show kids the wonder of space.
I worked with a guy who just missed out on being that teacher.. I said phew that was a lucky escape.. I bet you were relieved you didn't make it in the end.

Turns out it wasn't.. he said it would have been a great achievement to be selected and it was an historical moment. He certainly wouldn't have wanted to die is the spaceship of course but he still absolutely gutted it wasn't him that made the cut.

Fantastic guy to be around.. truly inspirational.. the guy who made the cut ahead of him must have been amazing.

I said there's no way I would have wanted to be anywhere near that shuttle.. in the nicest possible way he said THAT is the difference between those who make a success of life and those who don't... pfft..

yet here I am.. writing on a football message board. FLY ME TO THE MOON no less.. urggh.. tvvat

Different gravy these people aren't they? Closest I've come to that attitude are test pilots.

I think the Shuttle missions were risky by nature - I'm not sure, but were they MORE reliable than estimated in terms of fatal failure? Sure I read that somewhere.

According to I think it was the husband of a woman who died (might have been an astronaut from a successful mission) the chances of getting killed on a shuttle were one in a hundred 😮

Yep he quoted 1 in 10 million for air travel and 1 in 100 for a space shuttle.

How does an Olympian’s gravy differ to that of a non Olympian mate? Would you say more protein or is it plant based for health benefits, or in the case of the Russian’s laced with PHD’s?

Like bistro if it came with lucky charm marshmallows.

Just watched episode 2. Showing how requests for more information to be acquired on the damage were overruled, the crew got into their landing gear, the pilot saying sensors had gone on the wing the damage might have happened to, the loss of contact, and the monitor not moving the shuttle along, people phoning in saying there was debris

Very harrowing - and we saw at the start of episode 1 what had happened

I'm just watching episode 3 now....its shocking what was known and the fact nothing was done about it.
I was also surprised to hear that remains were found, I never expected that with the explosion, heat and impact

Just finished 2nd episode.
Evidence, if ever it was needed, that the lives of others can be so meaningless when leaders are focussed on something important to them.

I finished ep. 3 last night.

In my opinion they realised there was a big problem but didn't want to accept it so did nothing.

The lad who's mother died gave me the creeps mind.

Chain if command my a hole. Too frightened to speak out, what kind of culture is that?

The whole thing came across as an ACE (ass covering exercise).

I watched it and didn't know who I could believe 100%.

When he said they'd lost the temperature transducers , I thought the tone in his voice sounded as if he was thinking that they haven't told us everything hve they..
