1)Dorset Apple Cake
2)Tarta de Santiago (It's cake, it's the Jaffa cake argument in reverse)
3)Carrot Cake - it's gotta be moist, with also lots of lemon zest or its a no deal.
4) Bakewell tart ( it's really Tarta de Santiago but with Jam)
5) Hot Torrijas ( they will put me in a early grave but they are lush)

If I went into a cafe for a bit of cake and a hot beverage of my choosing, I’d be disappointed with this list. I’d pick the cheesecake every time without any hesitation.

Where’s your lemon drizzle, your carrot, your coffee and walnut. Not even a chocolate cake in sight

What about "Mars Bar Cake"? (basically rice crispy cake with melted mars bar instead of chocolate, although preferably mixed with butter, golden syrup and with a Cadbury dairy milk ganache topping).

I'm gonna have to do some baking tomorrow now....all this talk of cake ....and it's my free week between chemo sessions so my taste and appetite are back with a vengeance. Plus I learnt this week that icing sugar is just normal sugar blended up so no need to go out for anything

Don't get me started on jam doughnuts. Used to do the bakery at work on a Sunday morning....nothing better than knocking a couple of them into me...freshly baked and left to cool a bit (as its like biting into lava straight from the oven)....at 8am with a hangover. Not impressed with the Lidl ones due to it being icing sugar....and I don't do custard!!
