Who could start for Middlesbrough against Watford with Ashely Fletcher pushing for a recall

Middlesbrough will be hoping to bounce back from back-to-back defeats when they host Watford today – yet Neil Warnock’s side will be without some key players at the Riverside.

Middlesbrough striker Ashley Fletcher.

Middlesbrough striker Ashley Fletcher.
Centre-back Dael Fry and midfielder Marcus Tavernier have both been ruled out for the next few weeks with calf and hamstring injuries respectively.
Defender Anfernee Dijksteel will also miss the match and the rest of the season after undergoing an operation on an ankle issue which he picked up at Swansea.
Boro’s 3-1 defeat at Bournemouth last time out left them seven points adrift of the Championship play-off places with seven games to go.
Has started every league game for Boro this season but has had a mixed campaign.

Watford, meanwhile, will be looking to bolster their automatic promotion hopes and are second in the table after six consecutive wins.
Boro were beaten 1-0 when the two sides met at Vicarage Road on the opening day of the season.
Here’s who we think could start for Boro against the Hornets.
Endured a tough game at Bournemouth but has performed well since signing from Preston.

Has been a key player at the back since returning from injury. Dael Fry's injury only increases Hall's importance.

Has shown his ability in flashes of his ability since joining the club in January. Could still be a real asset if he can rediscover his Cardiff form.

Didn't have his best game at Bournemouth but still assisted the goal and offers quality in the final third.

10 years ago: Boro 2 Watford 1.

"Boro fall behind to a goal from who else but their former youth product and now Watford goal machine Danny Graham but come back to win 2-1 with strikes by an offside looking Scott Macdonald and a naturally strutting Andrew Taylor. The Watford Manager Malky
is bizarrely sent off for controlling the ball when it was still on the field of play. Hashtag Sunday League."

Team selection today will be the indicator on whether we have officially given up on making the play offs or still think its possible.

Will we drop the loan players in favour of assessing the squad players we own, over loanees who probably won't be here in August?

Nothing at all to do with today - but always worth remembering the "Tallin Torpedo" v Burnley(y)

September 2010, Middlesbrough come from behind to beat Burnley 2-1 at The Riverside. Boros Summer signing, the brilliantly named Estonian International Tarmo Kink scored his first two goals for the club, the winner a superbly struck free kick deep into added time after the 90 minutes was up.

Bettinelli and Bolasie are out of contract in the summer so they're just as much potential options.

It's only Kebano who we'd have to pay for.

Out of contract: Johnson, Fletcher, Mendez-Laing, Archer, Assombalonga (though he's going whatever happens)

On loan: Bettinelli, Bolasie and Kebano

Bar Coburn, there's not really anyone on the bench that I think needs looking at.
Coulson is usually ineffective, but I expect he'll get a good amount of game time in the next few weeks as he's the only one Warnock hasn't really used consistently.

Definitely worth looking at another keeper for the remainder of the season. They can't be any worse.

I am not overly convinced by any of the jan signings. I don't think they have improved us and only increased the wage bill and added a bit of depth. It's not like they've improved the scoring issues.

Bolasie and Kebano have shown flashes but hardly consistent and end product is a bit 'meh'. They looked good for a month but have slipped into the usual Boro way.

I think Johnson and Watmore were pretty much harshly bombed out. I don't think any of the jan signings have produced as much end product as those 2?

I just want us to have a genuine go at them. We've had a battle cry for the last 2 games and frankly not turned up (especially in the first half)

That said 'typical Boro' would see us win and keep us hanging on with a dream😂

Ronnie Jepson and Kevin Blackwell havent any sponsors!
Is this a subtle hint they wont be here after the end of season?!!!(y)
