* The Unofficial "Official" Boro v Leeds Match - Day Thread *

Paddy didnt look well - especially if it is a spinal or back injury. Hopefully it wont be too bad.
I think Clarke, apart from the obvious with the pen, did pretty well, considering he`s only had ten minutes off the bench in over a year!
Cartwright, Sykes and AJ Bridge better get some extra training in this week - just in case lyke (y)

Carrick on Thursday:

" Its not going to make or break our season in terms of tell us are we good enough or are we not good enough."

Wasn’t that impressed with Leeds to be honest in that second half, despite playing for more than half an hour against ten man Boro. We could have got a draw there with a bit more luck and composure. Having said that if you defend like we did first half then you give yourself very little chance, and until we learn how to defend properly we’ll always be on the end of results like this, especially away from home. We’re having rotten luck with injuries this season too for some reason.

Overall we did well and had chances to make it 3-3 but it wasn’t to be.

Plus points were Latte’s goals and the performances of VDB as well as Clarke’s performance after the pen he really stood out. I quite liked the performance of Bangura in the second half.

I’d like us to get a DM especially for our road games but Carrick doesn’t play that way.

Barlaser was the heartbeat of the team for most of the game. Dictated things I thought. Stupid mistake but thought he did well
Yeah a bit harsh from me considering he hasn’t had a long run off games. I’m just a bit over emotional after that. Incredible to think we are still 3 points away from the play offs.

Referee was a complete homer. He could have issued second yellows to a couple of their players with more justification than the one he issued to Dijkstil. We might well have equalised with that mad scramble in the second half.

Still, only Ipswich next up, easy points I reckon. Anyone fancy a game at Right Back?

Thought it was a good performance apart from the madness of the first 10 minutes and so so close to getting the equaliser.

I was worried we would ship a few more when we went down to 10, we actually defended a lot better after that.

Barlaser getting too much stick in my opinion, he looked tidy.
Barlasser looks very tidy on the ball and can always pick a pass out.

with Clarke out and Jones out and assuming McNair out who will we have for defence?

Clarke isn't out.

It'll be Bangura - Clarke - Fry - VDB.

That's assuming Carrick wasn't lying about Fry not being far away.

They do, however so do we. Should be an entertaining game but we have to defend well. Leeds start very quickly and will put us under immediate pressure. We have to get through the first 20 minutes without conceding. Then we have a chance.

Looking forward to this one.
Wise words…

If only we had a really great defender to get a grip of that defence and sort them out on the training ground like Karanka and Venables managed to do back in the day
I don't think it's that simple really, both those teams you mention played the save way, safety first, at the science of being more expansive and adventurous.

It's a balance of course, but I'm happy to see a manager to hold an attacking philosophy built around a paying game - is great to watch.
