* The Unofficial "Official" Boro v Stoke Match - Day Thread *

Hadnt looked at the table until just now.
Its frightening how we could drop like a stone [worst case scenario] - with so few points seperating so many clubs below us.
That Plymouth game is a must win

It's 14 games in, and as you stated on a previous post, Saturday showed how you have to be on your game each week in the championship. We need to keep picking up points and be in and around the top 6 come February 1st then the season gather pace but be open minded that we will have off days like Saturday again but it's how we react!

There isn't a single fixture in this league where I believe we have the right to win, we have to turn up and earn the right to win.

Carrick knows this and can see things had just caught up with us a little, time to get other squad players game time on Tuesday and others to rest ahead of Saturday @ Plymouth.

The new run starts again Tuesday!

Confidence is massive in any sport, but in the Championship where so many teams are evenly matched it can be the difference. Look at Stoke, scraped a couple of wins against Sunderland and Leeds, so came to us confident they could execute a game plan. In the space of a week they've gone from bottom six to looking towards the play offs. Wins at Exeter and Plymouth and I would be confident we'll give Leicester a tough game - equally lose at Plymouth and we are looking down again - mad league, but I enjoy it!

Agree chap.
It reminds me of those computer programmes [?] I seem to remember from decades ago:

0011101010011111000001010111100000000........1111.00101.

Is it binary code or something?

Just one point or one goal can make one hell of a difference.
Like you, I take the long view and I`m always the eternal optimist.
Be intersting to see how it goes.
Carrick [I think} was taking the mick when some reporter made this comment about Boro being in the play-offs:

[From Carrick media conference transcript v Stoke]

Play-offs? Scared Ipswich and Leicester are “uncatchable”?

I don’t know where we are in the league to be honest. I`ve not looked at it. I`m not interested at this stage. The play-offs are a mare, so its about winning games , accumulating points, as many as you can. We cant control Leicester or Ipswich or who ever`s above us at this time until we play them really [smile], so its wasted time and energy if you like. Its what`s coming next. For me its planning ahead Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday. Planning ahead like that. Thats what matters. Picking up as many points as we can and, at some stage during the season we assess where we are.[Big smile].

It appears that the Norwich game took more out of the players than we initially thought. It was a tough second half both physically and mentally. In hindsight maybe the Stoke performance was understandable in some respects.
