Their comes a point were Carrick has to publicly have a go

I'm not saying throw players under the bus but sooner or later he has to say it's simply not good enough the amount of goals we concede.
We will not get promoted on the back of the defensive frailties we have.
We are talking about a manager who has done it all but refuses to have a go at his defenders who ship goals for fun.
I know it will be a different story behind the scenes but come on Michael be just a little bit more up front with us.
Surely we are looking at the defence in January?

And as someone said above even Ferguson would openly have a go now and then. You cannot keep protecting the players.

Not sure what you want him to say. He's trying to get us playing out from the back and even the best funded teams in the world have defenders who don't always get it right.
This is who we are and it's not going to change until we can afford to sign players with less mistakes in them.
I'm sure heand the players discuss it every week, but I can't see any benefit to him calling out players in public, particularly given that we are on the bones of our arsé in terms of fit players.

Because the fans, me included are sick of him protecting the players.
Just my opinion though.
I travel all over watching the team and sooner or later you just want him to say a few home truths.
You’re literally the first person moan about it. You’re going on asif we’re still in the bottom 3. We got beat by a single goal against a better team away from home. Pull your big boy pants up and look forward to next week.

Carrick knows what he’s doing. Certainly doesn’t need advice from you

Wow......the insults have begun and I'm being told to pull my big boy pants up. Talk about ironic.
I'm 58 years old fellas and have followed Boro home and away since the 73/74 season.
It's all about opinions and I fully respect all yours.
If you are happy conceding three at Plymouth, Bristol City, Leeds four at WBA, two at Exeter......the list could go on then feel free.
All I'm saying is that sooner or later Carrick has to accept that our defending is simply not good enough. He doesn't seem to want to in my eyes.
We will not get promoted/make the play offs conceding goals the way we do.

Dear me. Get them pulled up

The way we play we always are likely to concede goals as well as score quite a few. Most of our problems seems to come down our flanks - our full backs are not very good defensively, but also we don’t give them enough help at times either. We either change our style a bit, particularly away from home, and become less attacking or we get better full backs in January. Maybe O’Brien can solve some of the problems when he is fit by slotting in at left back

If we had a settled defence then maybe I could agree with that as the regular back 4 weren't doing their jobs.
However we have so many injuries with change after change I can't see the point of publicly castigateing the ones that are fit. It will only have a negative effect if you ask me.
