I agree with OP, though I hate to be a tw@ and say I still think we will fall short this season. It will be incredibly close I've no doubt, but we may rue points dropped pre-Wilder come May. I'd love to be wrong as I always say. There's still a signing or two to come .. I hope one is in the form of a GK. The progress overnight has been incredible, Before Wilder was appointed, none of us really expected the Boro to be in a top-six battle ... to hear folk waxing lyrical of the Boro buzz, even being worthy contenders for automatic all of a sudden - I'm not used to it! A class move by Sir Steve.
Earlier in the season when we were starting to struggle with NW, I honestly didn't think the likes of CW would be within our reach. I expected a struggling PL side to sign him on. Despite that, I'm more than happy to admit I was one of the clowns mentioning names like Eddie Howe as an ideal candidate for Warnock's replacement. Deary me. He's ended up signing on up the road, and look how that one has turned out
That's no disrespect to NW btw, I've always loved the bloke and I'm proud to say he managed the Boro. He'd always fancied the challenge here and I'm delighted he got the opportunity. Had we not made the change from JW to Neil at the time, I dread to think what we'd all be discussing right now.
It's about time we had a bit of luck. It's absolutely class to be excited to be a Boro fan again. Looking forward to seeing where we end up, if it's not to be this season, it's nailed on 22/23 for when we finish above Newcastle in 1st. Obviously.
