What's the strategy here I wonder? Doesn't sound like they're trying to win over the 1.5m unemployed!According to Times Radio the government is about to announce plans to remove free prescriptions, dental treatment and other health benefits from the unemployed if they're deemed to be not seeking work with sufficient enthusiasm.
I would argue that the majority of those they are targeting wouldn't vote Conservative anyway. What's the strategy here I wonder? Doesn't sound like they're trying to win over the 1.5m unemployed!
Are their focus groups really telling them that this is what will keep them in office?
It depends where they set the threshold for effort. Remember when they attacked the sick? We had people walking miles to the job centre on bleeding stumps and being sanctioned because the lift was out of order so they were 35 seconds late for their appointment. From what I read on the BBC website this only applies to those capable of working who haven't made any effort to get a job for 18 months. As a working taxpayer this doesn't strike me as unreasonable.

So if someone is suffering from mental health issues (perhaps undiagnosed), lack of motivation from a particular life trauma or something of that ilk, starve them of medication and make all their teeth fall out to teach them a lesson? It’s not something I’ll be voting for. From what I read on the BBC website this only applies to those capable of working who haven't made any effort to get a job for 18 months.
