Became the 1st player to score an FAC goal on QPR's plastic pitch, when putting the mighty Boro 1-0 up at Loftus Road

Unfortunatly QPR went on to equalise & after extra time, win the replay at Ayresome Park 3-2

They also went on to the final, probably the 1st time I missed a cup final on TV, wasnt interetsed in watching an all London final

Bobby Thomson scored his 1st goal on his 4th appearence, a penalty away to WHU, he also scored on his league cup debut home to Plymouth & FAC debut away to QPR, as mentioned, as bad as he was, he could have been in a select group of Boro players who scored on all their debuts in one season at the club

Thats right Rofesleg, cracking memory, think he was closer to the corner flag & yes recommenced by Jock Stein

Ironically it was Jock Stein who recommended Bobby Murdock to big Jck at a function back in 1973
 
After he left us I recall him playing at AP for Blackpool in 1986 when they were challenging us for the top spot then fell away
 
Just been reading about Bobby Thomson geetting banned at Hibs, he signed for them from the Boro

He mentionens its not often you hear a father & daughter playing for the same team as his daughter ended up playing for Hibs like her dad (y)

To add to Bobby’s shame, I think the corner flag saved it too 😉

Yea knew about the ban, didnt know about his daughetr 7 for someone who loved & played for Hibs, he was such a proud father & rightly so, good on him

I'll bet she was a better player than her dad as well.....
