When we the mighty Boro, who were struggling with injuries to a few 1st teamers beat 2nd top of the 1st divison Aston Villa, including golden boy at the time Dave Platt, 2-1 at Villa Park in the ZDA SF 1st leg & after going a goal down, Boro are now 90 minutes away from our 1st visit to the famous twin towers

Aston Villa who were goping great guns in the the 1st divison (now PL) back thenwere suppose to be too strong for Bruce Rioch's struggling & weakened team, but quite the opposite, as the Boro fought the rain & the initial Villa onslaught to fight back from a goal down & match Villa throughout the match to draw level from, who else, Bernie Slaven & then right at the death seal victory with a beauty from Mark Brennan

One of my favourite nights as a Boro fan. Of all the goals i have celebrated over the years, the Brennan winner would be up there as the wildest. Ended up on my knees in a puddle at the front of the away end. Up there with Slaven's in the semi at Old Trafford

It seemed someone sitting on the stands with a hose pipe the rain was that intense & when you thought it couldnt rain anymore it just seemed as though someone else would start pouring buckets of water over us
