This summer we’ll find out what club we are

Not convinced Fry is someone we will sell.

His injury record will put off suitors and he doesn’t get in any current premier league side, he’s best off where he is. Probably end up being a sub for us if we can sign a decent centre back to partner Lenihan.

Hackney will be going no where. Not worried about that in the slightest.

Akpom will generate the best fee and he’s only got a year left, if he isn’t willing to sign a new deal then the club may see fit that the best option is to sell. Couldn’t blame them if they decide to do that.

Think other sales could be from the likes of Crooks, McNair, Bola and Dijksteel but don’t see much money generated there.

I think the fact we never spent too much of the money from Tav and Spence will ensure we at least keep Hayden Hackney. He needs a full season at this level anyway.

Hope you are right. Interested to see what direction to club has taken. Every player will have its price I would imagine under Scott

I agree with that but just can’t see Fry being someone who is going to be sold, think the interest and paper talk of him leaving will stop now. Hackney talk will be there just because he’s young and he’s a talent but again don’t see anything concrete happening this season.

Akpom of course is a real possibility of leaving and I would be gutted but obviously won’t be surprised given the season he’s had, the fact he’s got a year left and he will remember we cast him aside not long ago

Fry doesn’t want to leave, Hackney is better of here.. Akpom deserves a move or an improved contract, he owes us nothing.. hopefully Carrick can convince him to stay.

a few fringe players I can see moving on for game time.. Dijksteel, Bola, Crooks, McNair..

Newy I like your retained list and your move on not good enough list even more.

i am optimistic Akpom will stay premier clubs will be keen to see if his form continues into next season, most likely with a team in trouble giving us a panic offer in January. Maybe carrick can sell it to akpom to sign a new deal and that if we are not in contention in January he can go then or the summer.

I don’t think it’s case of not being good enough.. just too good not to be playing regularly.

Akpom is onto a good thing at the moment here with Carrick.. you could see the change in the pre season friendly. Hopefully he sees boro in his future and we can give him the right deal to make that possible.

I think Chuba needs to be sold if we are serious about the model. He's 28 next season. If he signed a new contract that would take him into his 30s. Well never get a bigger fee for him than we will this summer. He needs to take his chance of a prem move while it's on the table. If he turns palace down then we fail again next season he might never get another chance. It's good business all round.

Personally I would be very surprised if we don't get a fair few bids for akpom. Last year of contract, should be easy to prise from us for what's pocket money in premier league terms.

I think our best chance of keeping him is if too many teams see him as a punt worth making, rather than as someone they make room in their first team for.

There is no scenario where losing chuba is good business for us.

Are you his agent?

I don't get this thing some fans have of trying to sell our best players.

No I just have an opinion and expressed it on a forum. How does anything i say have a bearing on what the club or Chuba Akpom do? I'd doesn't so I'm not trying to sell or not sell any player because it isnt something I have any control over.

Both replies completely ignore the first thing I said which was IF THE CLUB ARE SERIOUS ABOUT THE NEW MODEL... in which i have seen it suggested we will look to buy young players and develop them and sell them at the right time to maximise value. That being the case, my opinion is that Akpoms value will never be higher than it is now and therefore it would be good business to sell now, plus from the players perspective, given his age, he would be foolish to turn down a prem move now in the hope of getting there with boro when there is no guarantee it'll happen. Its different from, say, Hackney who has plenty of years development ahead of him.

Not too sure Paddy is a “fringe“ player. He is a utility player who is used in several positions, but at the end he was still one of our best 2 centre backs and played about 37 games.
He really isnt he is a poor centre back i would be happy to see him sold. fry and Lenihan are much better but i will would like the club to sign someone better than all 3
