Three at the back, turning point tonight?

We needed a scrappy, crappy, lucky win to end the bad run but we got it. We shall see but NW seems happy again tonight. The three at the back seems to make us more solid plus gives us more options going forward i.e. Bola getting crosses over and Fisher winning the penalty. As well as the formation, Watmore was back on form, we had a Centre Forward who plays like he is part of the team, Hall is fit and looks dangerous when we get a corner / free kick, Kebano is getting better. Dale, Tav and Bolasie will be back soon and ML is getting fitter. Hopefully get Paddy’s red card overturned and let’s push on to the top six.

Think it helped. Warnock said it wouldn't be fair to play Hall in a 4. I think he said similier in the reason when he thought the CBs weren't good enough to play as a 2.

We've had plenty of early season success with 3 CBs. It's a bit more secure. Also the Fullbacks can push on a bit further.

I'd definitely play it at Reading. A more 'don't lose' game.

If McNair is out same team for me with Fry hopefully slotting in. Would probably move Dijksteel to the left side though as I’m not sure Fry likes it over there.

NW reckoned he had to play 3 at the back to help Hall and not leave him exposed. But IMO Djksteel looks half the player in a 3 and was getting tortured on occasion in both halves. Watmore is a Godsend and one of the best in that sort of position since Tomlin. But Betinelli, he seems to have the shortest reach since Ben Roberts. And this has been a constant problem for several matches. Didn't have a prayer with the free kick but he got very lucky in the last 15. Doesn't inspire a shred of confidence.

We were playing one of the worst teams in the league and were lucky to hang on for the win, I don't think it made us look particularly solid.

Huddersfield score plenty of goals for a team at the bottom of the table. Oddly enough the exact same amount as us. So whilst they are not prolofic, they do score their fair share. They have scored multiple goals on a few occassions, against Stoke, Milwall and Swansea to name but 3. Scoring isn't their problem, defending is.
