Tissue’s at the ready!!!

I worked for Davy McKee in the design, procurement, build and commissioning of the Redcar Blast Furnace (RBF) from 1973 until Blow-in in October 1979. Also further modifications and rebuilds after that date. It's a pity the crew doing the extremely dangerous, clandestine tour didn't know more of the process. There were to be be two 10.000 tonnes per day iron producing BFs at Redcar, and two were procured, but the Welsh arm of the BSC whinged to the government of the day and the second BF was redirected and destined for Llanwern. It was never built, and the kit either lay rusting on Redcar BSCs land or used as spares for the RBF. Total mismanagement and a monumental waste of tax payers money. I could go on, but yes tears for me and many of my colleagues watching the demolition video made by Thompsons last year. The RBF was a living, breathing being and part of so many lives on Teesside during the design, manufacture and production of the finest steel in the world BARR NONE.☹️

That photo was taken at Head Wrightson on the south bank of the Tees, on brown field land made available for reinvestment
She didnt care where it was.
She started it, make no mistake, and didnt give a monkeys who`s families lost their jobs or which communities were left without hope.
Reap the whirlwind.
