Tomorrow

Is everything ready for the morning? Then if you can try and switch out.
It’s hard to find the words to say, I lost my sister 16 years ago but my parents took care of it all.
I’m sure everything will go fine and there will be (I hope) plenty of people around you

It was my dads last Wednesday.

Awful day. I've carried family and friends on their last journey, but when it's your own dad its really hard.

He had that hymn 'I Saw The Sun Rise' ...it's now is a special memory to me.

I found it really tough to carry out my duty at the graveside. But I was stoic as I could manage.
Be strong mate, it's the last thing you can do for him, and there's a bit of peace of mind in the knowledge that you did your best.

Afterwards hopefully the weight will be off you. It was for all of us at the wake.

All the best. It's a tough road ahead but you'll get there.

All the best Redagain - hope it goes as well as it can for you and your family.

Can't even bring myself to think of losing my dad. Even thinking about some of the quality time I spent with him as a kid makes me quietly emotional.

Hardest thing, saying goodbye to your parents. Good luck for today, you'll come out the other side a better, wiser person.... and there's no shame in showing your emotions, everyone has them.

There's no prerequisite for how you should feel or how you should act. Let your emotions flow and trust the people around you.
Sorry to hear about your loss.

A poem on my coffee mug says that Gemini friends "tell you that crying crying is good now and then and you come away wiser and older".
Its not aimed at the death of a parent, but I do think its good to release your sadness on occasions like this.

At my dad's funeral, I certainly cracked up inside when I saw hundreds of mourners paying their respects on the roadways to Linthorpe Crem. My dad unfortunately passed away with a not a penny to his name and was a relatively quiet guy in life, with simple interests, but obviously he left a quite big positive impression in people's hearts.
