Top Five Away Trips Next Season..

Determined to tick a couple off the list next year. Swansea and Norwich are top of the pile at present. Both good beer towns (I think?) and probably worthy of a couple of nights either side of a Boro three points.
Norwich away last season was brilliant.
I think only about 1600 or so in the away end but what an atmosphere (it's about quality not quantity).
We had a pub lunch by the canal about 10 minutes walk from the station, which was very civilised.

Funny old season last season for away fixtures, lots of possible big Northern away days early in the season on a night when we were in or around the bottom 3 but hope this season we have more of them on a Saturday later in the season.
The top 5 I want are
1) Cardiff either on the opening or closing day, I don't think most people on hee realise what a top place it has become for the buzz around the centre, also very friendly, it be great to go back amongst 3000+ Boro on the lash
2) Southampton away, I think this will be a big far south away day, lots coming down from London and Teesside.
3)Preston, I hope we can return favour of them being an all round positive bunch at the Riverside.
4) Coventry I might try and get there this season, hopefully we can have a 3000+ turnout and a good away win.
5)Ipswich it's a **** hole but on a very personal level I have very close friend who was buried 8 miles outside of it after a very untimely and premature death.

5 Grounds I will not be visiting even if I could

1) Bellend Road- No thanks I don't fancy making a long trip to deepest Mordor
2) Stadium of Light There is no fun in going there ever since they went all Gollum like over their precious allocations.
3) Blackburn **** place despite the allocations
4) Leicester AkA Royston Vasey, no thanks
5) Millwall " Proper working class club" is it b***ks, tourist fans central all out for authentic day out, they now all have their cameras out filming their hardness.
Leicester is the most multi-cultural city in the UK.

Not too bothered about Leeds and Sunderland.. even after all that stuff about wanting them in the playoffs. Top Five away trips for me are as follows..

1. Preston. Canny fans, nice location, good stadium.. think I've developed a bit of a soft spot for Preston.

2. Huddersfield, formerly top of the shop, went to uni there plenty of places for a decent pint. Decent set of fans.

3. Coventry, nice area, nice bit of friendly rivalry, mutual respect and I really like the stadium.

4. Cardiff, some decent fans for the away trip, canny friendly pubs.. bit of a trek mind.

5. Blackburn, solid all rounder, easy to get to, simple parking, canny pubs.. Bristol came close.. sweet stadium, beauty Guinness..
too far away.

My Bottom (hehe) Five

1. Stoke - easily the worst away fixture of the season for any fan. not happening
2. Leeds - decent for shopping or a night out.. but their fans are asreholes.
3. Sunderland - too flat, no rivalry, no point. would rather go see Hartlepool.
4. Millwall - shyte crack, pie and mash, jellied eels.. can't be doing with all that muck
5. Hull - it stinks

Bloody part timers eh! C'mon then.. top three? must see game? fully comprehensive top to bottom review including recomendations for food, drink parking, accommodation and night life?
Cardiff must have changed a bit since I was last there. Fans attacking police dogs and anything with a red scarf or English accent.

It also a town that over the years several friends have come in for special attention from local idiots and have made the trip a bit fraught. It had incidents when we played there under Karanka so it still kept up the tradition.

Not sure the football crowd is so multi cultural.

I think the soul crew have retired, thankfully.
Cardiff has made such a transformation from when I went there in the FA cup in the early 90's,the centre of the city it seems has transformed appearance and you can feel a real buzz about the place, From what I gather the old FL and Soul Crew developed a love in so there is no animosity towards Boro fans when they come to Cardiff.

The battle between the two at that cup game is still talked about, in certain circles.

The Fat Cat in Norwich is a brilliant old school real ale pub but is outside of the city centre.

Living in Cambridge my ‘home’ games are Norwich, Ipswich, Watford, QPR, and Millwall. I missed going to Brentford and Fulham this season - top days out. I have never been to Plymouth, Swansea or Wednesday so will try and get to one or two of them too.

I went to that game and Swansea next year as well, and the latter game had just as many flashpoints, at most points during the day you could see groups of middle aged men jogging somewhere and then police sirens being heard, what I only found recently that by that game telephone numbers had been exchanged, peace offerings duly offered and that a little group of Soul Crew travelled with the Frontline to Swansea to show them the main sights, networking across the social and cultural divide.

Yes, I heard the same.

There is still the possibility of the club pulling out a corking away fixture for the friendlies, by my reckoning they still have 3 to announce but 1 will be at home, so depending on the last two away to be announced there could be one from there that enters my top 5 , Celta Vigo would be a must go for me, maybe Oberhausen as well.

I doubt sunlun will even be an option for many what with our scant allocation it will likely be 240-60 pts again.
