Tracing Adopted Siblings

Just wondering if anyone has been through this process before and how you went about it. I am literally at day 1 of the process and the amount of information on the web is staggering and I am not sure where to start.

Finding relatives on the internet is relatively straightforward, particularly Grandparents backwards.

Adopted siblings is a bit more difficult and you may need an intermediary to access adoption records. It is easier if they kept their birth names but not everyone does.

If you know name, place of birth and date of birth you should be able to get a birth certificate but it now costs money - last time I got one they were about a tenner but it is a while ago.

Hope that helps

Good luck with this, it must be hard knowing you have family out there but not knowing where. (y)

we have the birth details so that is not a problem. Intermediaries are looking in some cases for £2500 to do the search.

but we literally just have the birth details

We know they were possibly in Newcastle but that was 50 years ago.
if you try some of the bigger local groups that have tens of thousands of people in, and post their names and how old they would be, along with why you are looking for them etc people often share the life out of it. its worth a shot vs £2.5k

have you tried running through all the profiles on facebook with the same name or were names changed?
