.... Thought I'd stream the Barca vs Atletico game and see how he gets on

Barcelona 2 -1 up so far, not even half-hour gone, it's been eventful. Not much between them in La Liga and I've had it down for a draw but not looking anything like that will happen so far haha. šŸ¤”

He's doing well, be nice if he got himself a debut goal .... not that many will be bothered though I am interested to see how he gets on there.

Amazing how his career has gone since leaving us .. I thought he would end up at one of the top four PL sides. Didn't think we'd see him back at Barcelona ... but no one expected Braithwaite to end up there either! How I wish he was still in a Boro shirt in the PL :ROFLMAO:

I'm sure lots of other Boro fans are just like me and they hope he does well over there.

He was a joy to watch (most of the time!) in a Boro shirt and he seemed like a nice lad. I have a vague memory of him buying some shirts and/ or giving his kit away to some young kids when he knew he was leaving us.

Braithwaite surely not he ain't that good ?

He is a really nice lad, I met him with my two young lads once and he was absolutely lovely with them.
Also one of the most exciting players ive watched playing for us in the last 35 years.

100% agree. Delighted for the lad. Always wondered where he could end up if he got the right guidance and could hone his craft. He's the most exciting player I've ever seen in a Boro shirt at the games, I was too young at the time to really remember/appreciate the Juninho/Merson, etc years as didn't attend as much then, they are legends more through what they achieved here, but Christ. Every time he got on the ball, seeing other teams blowing out their arses to contain him was so much fun :ROFLMAO:

Was convinced Pep/Utd would fight over him but think he will absolutely fly back at Barca from what I saw today.

Their fans must be delighted.

Barca must be on the road to recovery after their so-called rough spell, having just brought in Adama and Aubameyang on a free. Unreal that Dani Alves is still playing, 38 is he, now?? I thought he was well older and had retired before he ended up back there haha .. I see he had an eventful game himself :ROFLMAO:

I realized how I phrased that incorrectly towards the end of my post, when I said 'how I wish he was still in a Boro shirt' - I meant Adama.

I wouldn't say no to a player of Braithwaite's quality joining at the moment though :ROFLMAO: .. his time here didn't work out and to be honest, his body language was never that great to me, you always got the impression he was itching to move on. We were hardly in a great position to fight for promotion at the time anyway, but still.

I'm sure no one expected to see him eventually end up at Barcelona. I didn't think he was 'THAT good.

Right now, I wouldn't have a player of Braithwaite's character back in the Boro dressing room. Don't care how good one player is. it's sticking together that counts. Would never want anyone to disturb the harmony within the club at the minute, though usually, there's always one that usually rocks up and stinks the place out. Things can be ruined in a second.

I'd sooner we keep finding players like Crooksy, Watmore, etc who are hungry, committed whether they are starting or not. Watmore in particular, his attitude lately has been superb. He'd lost his place in the team and has the fight on his hands to get back into the starting 11, yet on Friday, clearly shown his enthusiasm/commitment hasn't changed a jot. Still playing with a huge grin on his face and working hard. You don't get that with many players at all this day and age. A nice, down-to-earth lad who just wants the club to do well, and whatever part he can play in it, he's happy to be part of it.

Nice to have a real game-changer like him on the bench during big games while he's not in the starting 11. Depth is starting to improve as are we as a club.

Agree. Met him twice and heā€™s a really nice guy. Great with fans.

Braithwaite was easily a class above championship level , he was played wrongly by poor managers .
im glad the lad said ā€œf*** thisā€ and wanted out and not just stuck around ruining his career

He bought a load of shirts at the last game against Ipswich and gave them all out to fans at the match.

Canā€™t say Iā€™ve seen a boro player do that before.

I saw that too, his first touch was great and he played a very quick/ direct ball to other players feet, problem was they couldn't control it or read the game/ Braithwaite well enough to give him it back. Must have been really frustrating.

He lost interest when he realised the other players were not that great, and the manager the same, can't really blame him for that, I'd be disinterested if my workmates were poor and the boss clueless.

He's not at a typical Barcelona level, but neither are Barcelona, but he's certainly good enough for a mid prem level side.

Traore has always been incredible, with massive attacking potential, but only Pulis used him correctly, and altered the team to make it work. Nuno didn't have a clue what to do with him, trying to turn one of the best attacking threats into a wing back was like tying a weight to his boots. I can understand why Nuno did, it as they can't afford to pay that open, and need to be more careful, but Traore was the wrong player for them to buy, and it was the wrong place for Traore to go. He'll do well at Barcelona I think, if they let him keep his energy for high up the pitch, and don't shackle him.

Thanks for the clarification.
My memory was hazey, so I wasn't sure if I had imagined it šŸ‘

Just been reading about his 'stunning debut' for Barca in the Times. It's incredible that people on here gave him such abuse at one time.

I still love Traore and wish him all the very best.

Braithwaite I have no time for whatsoever. A very lucky lad to be where he is and will never play PL football.

I'm sure Martin has no intention of ever playing in cold mainly miserable England again...

As he sits drinking a cocktail in the spanish sun wearing his barca vest top

Tough decision though

Braithwaite is described as a centre forward. He has scored 5 league goals in 43 appearances for Barca.
He got 10 in 43 for Leganes before that and only got the move because Barca couldn't sign normally.
He is the luckiest lad to be where he is.

He simply wouldn't cut it in the PL and will not be given the opportunity.

He's a very wealthy man outside football an I agree he doubtless doesn't seek a route back to England.
As long as it is not to us I don't care.

Watched their match yesterday. AT had a decent game but I still don't think he looks as exciting as he was with us. Too coached now. Plays safe sideways/backwards balls 4 times out of 5 now. Still fantastic to watch when he goes for it the other 1 of 5 times.

The equaliser coming so late was as much to do with de Jong coming on up front. Not sure the other forwards are such good foil for Traore. I would have really liked to see him playing alongside Kane.

Still, 2 games 2 assists. Not too shabby.
