Tyre pressure?

Every time I have a new tyre on the car the fitters always seem to massively over inflate the tyre. They supplied and fitted one recently and put 44psi in when booklet says 33....Am I missing something? are they either careless or know something I don't?

Have a google and see what others are using. My car‘s tyres have a rating of 32psi to 40psi - I find that the garage always uses the higher one - maybe in case you load the car up with people etc.

Are you using an accurate gauge? I'd have a pencil gauge and a digital gauge to cross-check. A gauge on a foot-pump will be very inaccurate.

I have always experienced a tyre pressure oddity on every fw car I have bought - drivers side front constantly loses pressure. Every car, without fail. Only car that didn’t was a boxster (rw drive) - can any experts explain that as it has always puzzled me.

Hidden extras on your bill for the volume of the air given and the fact they use premium quality air as a default. You have to ask ahead of time, saying look guys , just minimum pressure right , and use regular air only please.

You have to factor in the extra for premium air. You don't want to have to let any air out at those prices.

Does anyone remember about ten years ago the tyre places tried to promote filling tyres with pure nitrogen, for a premium of course. It was supposed to have benefits. Yeah, sure :)

There's an American being pranked on FB. His family are talking about repairs to their car. They tell him the cost but that it includes $50
per tyre fir premium air.
He doesn't take it very well.

Over inflation will cause premature wear on the centre of the tread meaning you'll be replacing them quicker. Under inflation will wear the shoulders quicker.
I'd name and shame the place that did them.
As said above, buying a decent pressure gauge is a worthwhile investment as even the best rated tyre can suffer compromised performance if they aren't correctly inflated.

strange this as I find the garage under inflate my tyres, car manual says 32 but garage always puts it at 28

Yes they(Kwik fit) put nitrogen in my Citroen Berlingo 10 years ago. They said it was what all the racing drivers used! I said take it out.
