I've absolutely no doubt at all that it will, at least in the long term.Hope this finishes Boro Taxi's off. Vile company

Its like that though, it will baffle you sometimes. But ultimately it comes down to whether your situation at the time justifies the price.Prices have been weird with Uber
Last night;
Uber from Ingleby to Boro £11
Uber from Ingleby to Stockton £22
Today Boro £13 Stockton £10
I know there is surge pricing etc but presume Boro is further away?
Its all over Tees Valley as far as I can tell? Plenty around Darlo station right now.I, for one, think its great news. This nasty little pi$$ taking monopoly needs ripping apart, and this is the company that will do it. They have had a bit of bad press themselves clearly in terms of how they treat their drivers but for the customer its great news and no doubt Middlesbrough will soon follow
That's the beauty of choice!I use Boro taxis all the time. Good app, reliable, cheap.
Uber can do one
Interesting. I've seen them at the station, but just dropping off. I've never managed to book one.Its all over Tees Valley as far as I can tell? Plenty around Darlo station right now.
To be fair, the Boro Taxis app is very easy to use and does all of that too.Yep, user experience of Uber far exceeds any of their competitors. Price is only one part of the equation, I'd actually rather pay more yet be able to track a car/driver, accurate ETA etc (even though Uber is frequently much cheaper than the competition).
It was a shame. I worked with his daughter at the time. You never heard anything negative about the firm or the family. Inflation has contributed to price increases a lot since then too though.It's a shame the owner of Tees Valley passed, they were so, so good until Boro bought them out. Prices are absolutely ridiculous now.
11bn in debt only made profit this year since IPO in 2019..Yep you're right, global ride sharing company with £9bn in revenue, Uber, will just not be able to compete with the might of Boro taxis.

Taxi's in the Middlesbrough area have historically been too cheap in my experience over the years, and certainly out of kilter with other parts of the country. That's not to say that the issues described with a monopoly approach are not there though.
I've had very good and very bad experiences with Boro taxis, but I think choice can only be a good thing. Uber isn't uniquely positive, there are drawbacks and they are no stranger to dodgy tactics either. Was in the states recently and the experience with Uber was very poor compared with Lyft. Thankfully, the choice was there
I'm not arguing that :-D... They still have a huge revenue, far bigger than Boro Taxis.
You can still sometimes see that gap between Uber and FREENOW.I used to use Lyft all the time as Uber didn't allow you to tip (they've since rectified this).
I'd often try both, especially when one was surging as often the other wouldn't be and you could see a difference of say $30 between one and the other.
