Uche & Akpom

Could it be a little short sighted not having them in pre season?

It’s not long until we get underway this season and with no movement in the window would it have done us any harm having them both involved?

I agree, I doubt it's helping with our efforts to sell them by making it abundantly clear how little Wilder wants them here either.

There's also the curious case of Coulson, who has also been publicly excluded from Wilder's plans but is playing every friendly and participating fully in pre-season.

If he is not going to play them, there's no point in having them in training. You could argue that he should leave the option open but he clearly believes there is no situation in which he would play them. Same with Hall. Personally, I think he's playing a game of brinkmanship with Gibson. Making it clear that if he doesn't get the strikers he wants that he'll start with Watmore and Coburn. Can't say I like it.

TBF we don't know what their options were

Clearly, they've been told they are not part of the plans and are free to find other clubs.

beyond that, they could have been given the choice of coming back for pre-season, or staying closer to home (Coulsen is the only local lad)

Wilder and the club must be confident that they can get better options in their positions, and "better" is probably everyone on our list, even the last option.

I understand your point

But at this moment in time we have no replacements in and we are still paying them a salary

If our season was going to start tomorrow, we would be a better team with them in the squad than not

It feels different to Hall, where with the signing of Lenihan and more strength in depth I don’t think it puts us at risk

But surely we should get them fit and ready to go if needed!

Wilder (and the club) would rather have Finch and Kav gaining experience with the first team.

The plan is for the others to leave, if they don't, and if we don't have anyone else in, then the plan will probably change.

Uche is incapable of playing for more than maybe 50 minutes due to his muscle mass....................what use is he in a pressing system?.................a pro footbaler who looks good for about 25-30 minutes then is completely knackered and needs to be subbed

Akpom has never been any level of striker..............he has a good schooling at Arsenal, that probbaly has provided him with a good standard of life, but as a footballer you could tell after about 20 minutes he wasn't a champo level striker, his goal record is actually dreadful TBH a 1 in 6 striker at champo level or lower, , baffled as to why Warnock wanted him, he was playing in an abysmal league system thats probably on a par with the SPL and still couldn't hit 10 a season

They both have a year to run and we are paying them. I find it a bit strange they ain't involved to at least get fit.

We are paying them and they seem to he not remotely involved. It's pretty damming that they are not even been given an opportunity to 'impress'. I mean he's never even seen Akpom in the flesh. I can safely say he's not worse than Connally😂.

Considering it’s less than 3 weeks until the season starts and out only 2 strikers are Coburn and Watmore we probably should involve them just incase

Could use him as sub then, at present we’d be starting with Watmore and Coburn.

Uche could come on for the last 20-30 minutes, neither Watmore (due to injuries) and Coburn (due to age) should / could play 90mins per week / twice per week.

And Uche coming on for the last 20-30 mins against defenders who have already played 60-70 minutes, wether we need a goal or trying to protect a lead, could be quite a useful weapon to have. At least until we (hopefully) replace him with someone better.

So whats the plan. Are MFC prepared to just write these two off without even trying to get them fixed up with other clubs?

No wonder our season ticket prices are so high.

Neither of them will be on the books when the window closes. We have this every summer. Clubs will want them but all manner of things need to fall into place to enable deals to be done.

No, the club and the players’ representatives will be working to ensure they find new clubs before the window closes. It’s the same for every club. Nobody has their transfer business anywhere near finished yet.

With that logic why have the youngsters in pre season then?

Surely you would rather have Uche than Finch in the squad against West Brom? As the window will still be open at this point

Dodds for example will not be anywhere near the first team, he won’t even be first choice for the Under 23’s

Finch, Kav, Dodds et al gain first team experience and have presumably earned a chance to impress the senior staff. The club aren’t actively looking to offload them. Teams are always packed with young lads at this stage, it ties in with what I said about nobody being anywhere near finished in the market yet.

Ikpeazu and Akpom are nowhere near what the Boro need. They’ll be gone soon. People need to move on. They’ve had their chance with Boro and haven’t taken it.

Unless there is something we don't know about them Coulson Hall Ikpeazu and Akpom surely deserve the respect to at least be made welcome around the place.
Train with the squad fitness-wise if not for the tactical side
I say that as someone who doesn't rate Akpom in the slightest as a player, but has nothing against him as a person.
Spence I feel has burnt his bridges a bit so that's a different issue.

How many championship goals do they have?
They’re 17 and 17/18 aren’t they? They’re just starting out. It’s a good time for them to be blooded and work with the seniors.

Akpom and Ikpeazu will both be gone. Boro will have new strikers in place. Patience is a virtue.
