If he is not going to play them, there's no point in having them in training. You could argue that he should leave the option open but he clearly believes there is no situation in which he would play them. Same with Hall. Personally, I think he's playing a game of brinkmanship with Gibson. Making it clear that if he doesn't get the strikers he wants that he'll start with Watmore and Coburn. Can't say I like it.Could it be a little short sighted not having them in pre season?
It’s not long until we get underway this season and with no movement in the window would it have done us any harm having them both involved?
I understand your pointTBF we don't know what their options were
Clearly, they've been told they are not part of the plans and are free to find other clubs.
beyond that, they could have been given the choice of coming back for pre-season, or staying closer to home (Coulsen is the only local lad)
Wilder and the club must be confident that they can get better options in their positions, and "better" is probably everyone on our list, even the last option.
Wilder (and the club) would rather have Finch and Kav gaining experience with the first team.I understand your point
But at this moment in time we have no replacements in and we are still paying them a salary
If our season was going to start tomorrow, we would be a better team with them in the squad than not
It feels different to Hall, where with the signing of Lenihan and more strength in depth I don’t think it puts us at risk
But surely we should get them fit and ready to go if needed!
Could use him as sub then, at present we’d be starting with Watmore and Coburn.Uche is incapable of playing for more than maybe 50 minutes due to his muscle mass....................what use is he in a pressing system?.................a pro footbaler who looks good for about 25-30 minutes then is completely knackered and needs to be subbed.
No, the club and the players’ representatives will be working to ensure they find new clubs before the window closes. It’s the same for every club. Nobody has their transfer business anywhere near finished yet.So whats the plan. Are MFC prepared to just write these two off without even trying to get them fixed up with other clubs?
No wonder our season ticket prices are so high.
With that logic why have the youngsters in pre season then?Neither of them will be on the books when the window closes. We have this every summer. Clubs will want them but all manner of things need to fall into place to enable deals to be done.
This. Everything at the minute hinges on the Spence sale.Neither of them will be on the books when the window closes. We have this every summer. Clubs will want them but all manner of things need to fall into place to enable deals to be done.
Finch, Kav, Dodds et al gain first team experience and have presumably earned a chance to impress the senior staff. The club aren’t actively looking to offload them. Teams are always packed with young lads at this stage, it ties in with what I said about nobody being anywhere near finished in the market yet. With that logic why have the youngsters in pre season then?
Surely you would rather have Uche than Finch in the squad against West Brom? As the window will still be open at this point
Dodds for example will not be anywhere near the first team, he won’t even be first choice for the Under 23’s
How many championship goals do they have? Also, didn’t Finch and Kav both score the other night?
They’re 17 and 17/18 aren’t they? They’re just starting out. It’s a good time for them to be blooded and work with the seniors. How many championship goals do they have?
