UD Almería 1 Barcelona 0 - first ever victory - Karanka tactics

Congrats Spanish man. Almeria get selected regularly by my under 2.5 goals algorithm and did again against Barcelona. Was a bit of a surprise. Unlike Randy I made a few quid.

Cost me £150 too.

I am so sorry about that.

Mind you, the unexpected 3 points may be worth many millions to us come the end of the season.

If we stay up the plan is to use some of the money to dig down in the stadium where the running track used to be. Then install around 8000 more seats around the pitch that will have been lowered.

Ta. You would have lost some the week before when we got stuffed 6-2 away at Girona. I was scared that we would get another hammering.

The coach got the tactics spot on. You can see what he tried to do in the highlights. He used Karanka tactics.

He played with 4 at the back all playing defensively. With 2 holding midfielders in front of them. With a further 2 midfielders also not attacking too much. So 6 to 8 at the back almost all of the time. Particularly after the goal went in.

He started with 2 centre forwards to try to pinch a goal from the scraps available up front. The goal was from interplay between the 2 forwards on the break in the first half. Then we parked the bus.

We then missed a chance to make it 2-0 right at the end of the match.

I have noticed real Madrid come up frequently on under 2.5 goals too, which you never saw 18 months ago. I don't follow Spanish football so not sure what team Madrid put out these days.

I thought they had been crap this season. What do I know.
I do not know that much either. I am too busy looking at the bottom half of the table.

Rotherham might not be the best comparison either. As we have a Saudi Arabian sheikh trying to put loads of money into our club. He is ruthless with coaches if they do not deliver. It feels like a bog roll in our toilet has lasted longer than some of our coaches.

That had to be so frustrating.

It is frustrating at times. However he did donate millions of euros to help with costs for all sorts of stuff during lockdown here.
You can be a decent human and a crap chairman though. Furthermore given who he is, whatever he spent locally is pocket change, you suspect

I agree. That is all true. It is a very up and down situation. Some good stuff and some not so good.

Overall he has improved things here. In football and for the community. While having to deal with some difficult medical problems he has had himself.

Given the reputation of Saudia Arabia it is a bit of a strange ride.
