UK Fashion Industry

According to the FT the Fashion Industry is worth £35 billion and faces absolute disaster because of UK/EU Exit Agreement. It's easy to see that headline figure and think it's fine these companies are huge, but the FT explain that in fact, many are small independent companies working with larger companies. Red tape and stuff has the potential to decimate the industry.

There's no point bemoaning the madness of Brexit now, but there must be a way to help whole industries that employ people in good jobs and contribute to wider society.

My ex used to design for one of the big retailers and they outsourced a lot of it to smaller independent firms to create their range - usually small businesses with 3-5 designers working on a few pieces per company. They have in house teams of course too but a lot of it worked like that

That's what the FT are trying to highlight. What you've explained is a skilled career that people have trained for. I would imagine very few within fashion voted leave, but now they're facing potential disaster because of it. There's so much completely wrong and corrupt with the last 4 years.

It's the small companies of all kinds that are going to struggle or become unviable due to the non tariff barriers that are now there.
