Funnily enough I remember about 20 - 30 years ago during a dry spell seeing loads of Yorkshire Water wagons headed south, full of Kielder water.

Poured it into Eccup reservoir in N Leeds in 1995

Don't know but Kielder is the reason why even when the rest of the country has hosepipe bans, we don't.

I heard the about the water needed for Teesside industry at the time, never realised it was huge tunnel and not 88 inch pipes.

Worth a quick flick through.

It's still used as compensation water for both the Tees & the Wear during very low flows. However, it's very expensive to run.

I regularly fish there and have seen it running a few times.

That is going from just outside Whitby to Boro so must be some length

Eggleston, just below the bridge. The hut in the video is the fishing hut before it had some work done on it. There's a nice walk down the by river, but you can only go about a mile. The Teesdale way is on the other bank.
