Ukraine - invasion underway

Sadly this has shades of the mid 1930s. Putin, like Hitler did, knows the rest of Europe/US doesn't have the appetite for war and will push and push until it's too late and the west will have to get stuck in when it's right on their borders. Sadly thousands will die and Ukraine will probably be a waste land by then.
I can't see this ending well at all - for anybody.
 
This is all a political charade which will inevitably end with Putin reinstalling the original government when Ukraine broke away from the USSR. Anyone who keeps up with Ukraine politics will know that Obama's government forcibly installed their own man back in 2019-- a comedian at that. Not too mention Biden's hands are covered with blood if Russia does start to bomb and kill Ukrainians for it is with the Obama-Biden regime that this mess got out of hand. Ok, I'm not in favour of anything Putin but this mess will not get a moments rest until Ukraine follows the political line with the Kremlin. Obama and Biden did the same with Libya-- that place [sadly] is in ruins

There's always a political end game in all of this. Who knows why the Russian's have so much power not just in the UK but around the world. The only way to divert away from this is probably away from oil and gas-- although the $ is firmly with the oil investors. I mean they're loving this moment -- oil at nearly $100 a barrel thanks to Biden's so-called green policies. Then Biden appeases Putin in shutting down US oil fields and buying Russian oil-- you couldn't make it up.

Whilst the West talks, Putin acts

If the West is serious about stopping Putin retaking Ukraine, then unfortunately war has to be the answer because clearly sanctions aren`t working
 
It is a charade — from all sides of the EU and the US. Why did Schroeder and Merkel ever want to trust someone like Putin to deliver gas reserves on a pipeline bought and paid for by US tax payer money? It’s one of the most foolhardy agreements ever written.

Not sure where his dates are coming from, but it's an undeniable fact that the West, particularly Obama's US, supported an overthrow of a government, through violence, which was, whether we like It or not, democratically elected (as confirmed per international observers).

That started this. Putin, being an egomaniacal bully, has taken it to its end game.

He’s been reading all the propaganda and falling for it by the looks of it. From a bit of research it’s quite clear there were attempts at interference in that election but blocking hacking attempts and misinformation alongside encouraging peaceful protest is not forcibly installing someone.

Ok Putin is a thug but trying telling that to the people of Russia and Crimea — they love him. He has plenty of support in Ukraine also. There’s plenty in Ukraine who believe all this is the making of Biden.
 
Economic sanctions as a response will have no impact.

Expect China to take action versus Taiwan very soon. No one wants war except the aggressors and the defenders, both Russia and China know they can act as they wish now.

True..in fact if Russia return the favour and sanction Europe, we would be the losers in the ‘sanction’ war.

I hate repeating myself but he’s not universally loved. His approval rating conducted within Russia by the Levada center is usually in the 60s and on an overall downward trend, with approval of the government and its activities regularly under 50, hence why the opposition was so brutally dealt with - Navalny is in prison and there’s no one else taking any viable stand.

His rating here in Moscow will be lower and I’ll be watching where I go in the city as I don’t want to be anywhere near protests. He’s been losing support in the regions for a long time.

He has little support in Ukraine, outside the separatist leaders I doubt there has ever been much appetite for war. Crimea would probably have joined Russia if some kind of free and fair referendum was undertaken, it doesn’t mean they love Putin.
