Unacceptible "Paedo" and offensive chants / behaviour at MFC / SAFC Game

What is quite bizarre is that Boro and Sunderland fans combined to raise 20k for a very worthy cause. All the Mackems applauded at that yesterday too.

I suspect they don’t actually believe the classless rubbish they chanted.
Its almost like tasteless chanting is part of the game.. the panto element.. the showing off.. the dark humour.. gallows humour.. the wind up merchants.

Haven't read through the whole thread yet, but we are not in a position to complain about anything after Leeds away this season.

I am genuinely shocked that Boro fans on here, try to minimise how offensive this chanting really is.

And it's not a minority and it's not the daft lads all clubs attract.

This was Sunderland's core support, they had 2000 tickets that went to their most loyal fans, who in turn proceeded to chant before, during, after and even delaying getting on coaches so they could continue.

Yes, it's pathetic, but it is also horrible when you are a father with young kids having to hear it.

Do I shag my kids? No. Do I find it unsavoury that it's chanted at me? Yes. Am I frustrated that this has been going on for 30+ years and both clubs, the police and FA sweep it under the carpet? Definitely.

so of the ideas for improving the club and the matchday experience are absolutely off it! well doers with good intentions.. but their approaches are fundamentally flawed and they fail to see the bigger picture.

it wasn't THAT long abo that folks were suggesting sniffer dogs, police searches and caging in our fans.

there are simple things we could do that would move the club forward and set the wheels in motion for a better matchday experience. screaming for rob to go and tell on the Sunderland fans for name calling is not one of them... name calling on a football message board is not one of them either lol

it is embarrassing the reactions to stuff on here. after booing a team taking the knee.. a genuine suggestion was to make 'our players of colour' make videos.. with absolutely no sense of self awareness.. absolute insanity!

Name calling is bad.. you fcuking prat
Racism is bad.. we should make our "players of colour" do something about it
Justice needs to be served.. hang the batsard and throw away the key
Someone did drugs in the toilets at an away match..
WE SHOULD ALL BE FROG MARCHED TO THE GROUND AND SEARCHED AND THEN PLACED IN CAGES

These are actual real responses that I had read on here.. and there is lots more. I genuinely feel sorry for whoever has to hear all this stuff at the club and try to make sense of it or be seen to act in some way as to placate a minority of clueless fans.
"The Jedi's"
Fans booing the taking of the knee is wrong but for most it's about disagreeing with a political gesture. Unfortunately there will be some who boo it simply because they're racist, but there will also be those who are booing it because they probably genuinely feel that politics should be kept out of football.

If our fans were chanting racist slurs in unison throughout a game, I'd fully expect something to be done about it. I also expect something to be done about it when opposition fans chant about us being child abusers.

racism exists in football and we should be visible in our anti racism stance.. we shouldnt have to be.. but there it is. we didn't take the knee and need to do something else instead.. we haven't.

Frankie Boyle, Alan Carr, Ricky Gervais, Jim Jefferies, Louis C.K... all mainstream comedians most if not all have appeared on BBC, ITV and most certainly Netflix Chubby Brown & Bernard Manning for some of our older fans.. mainstream adult entertainers

You see you have this culture that has been part of the game since the year dot, we can see it in our mainstream entertainers with humour that is echoes in schools, pubs and workplaces.. schools will be seen as bullying perhaps, unprofessional in the workplace.. but in an adult entertainment venue steeped in rivalry, tribalism and violence it will be very much part of that experience.. no so much of the violence which had very many different factors that fuelled that element, working class youth culture, booze culture, and mass unemployment.

Sunderland signing offensive chants it just a mirror of our entertainment culture.. what we are know best for around the world.. our sense of humour.. very dark,, very dry.. often witty.. but also very cruel and unforgiving.

Your team beat ours.. well.. yer mam is fat.. yer dad is scruffy.. etc etc etc top trumps all the way down.

Just my opinion...if it was racist abuse the players could walk off which has happened. A similiar thing should happen for paedo chants. It really riles me theat its pretty much ignored or accepted

all the fans should walk out? they started doing that around 80 minutes... SOMETHING should be done about that AND the fcuking concourse.. getting served for a beer or cup of coffee shouldnt mean I have to miss out on the game!

I am not defending it at all btw, but it wasn't the minority or the daft lads at Leeds away who were singing very similar stuff, it was (almost) everyone. Loyal supporters of course, as you needed high loyalty points to get a ticket.

I don't know of any Boro fans reporting it (including myself of course).

To be fair though, people would be making a choice if they decided to pay to go and see Chubby Brown. It would be hypocritical of them to then complain that they were offended. You buy a ticket for that kind of thing, you know what you're getting.

Regarding the Sunderland fans chants, fans aren't choosing to attend a game because they want to hear "funny" chants related to child abuse, they're being subjected to it.

Imagine taking a child to see Chubby Brown and he's making racist, homophobic jokes. Kids are essentially being subjected to the same thing when they have to listen to those disgusting chants.

At the end of the day I'm a big boy. The chants don't upset me personally. What does upset me though is the idea of children and potential victims of abuse having to listen to it, and they do, every time we play Sunderland.

Nailed it mate.

Each to their own but I don't find joking about sh*gging kids funny.
nobody does.. that's the point

you don't get to choose.. literally THOUSANDS of away fans most of which will have a dark sense of humour or cruelty.. this is not the cinema or netflix.. it's football a 4d interactive game of chess, ballet and panto

please do not go the route of IMAGINE.. imagine if a small child went to a game and hurd a bad word and then they grew up to be hitler. OR well... if you don't agree with me.. THEN YOU MUST LIKE IT.. YOU MUST AGRTEE WITH IT.. YOU MUST APPROVE OF 911 AND HILBOUROUGH AND WHEN THAT DOG ATE THAT BABY.. urggh you sicken me etc etc

You seemed to be implying that because mainstream adult entertainers are offensive, we should just accept that it's a culture thing.

I was using the analogy of a child going to see Chubby Brown because it would be completely inappropriate, just as I feel it is completely inappropriate for a child to go to a game of football and have to listen to songs related to child abuse.

It wasn't about me suggesting they would then possibly grow up to become bad people.

I was and it is.

If you don't want your kids to hear swearing.. don't take them to the football.

Both, but singing one song about Adam Johnson doesn't equate to singing numerous songs before during and after the game.
Both.. but
Yeah I thought so.

I doubt very much that your kids suffered any harm over a 10-15 chant from the 2 hours at the football.. they'll be fine.
