I’ll give it a go. He hasn’t been funny for a decade, makes sense him moving on from comedies.
 
I thought it was great. He really surprised me in a serious role, because I thought I wouldn’t be able to see past Happy Gilmour, but he was superb in it.

Probably getting on for 2 decades, the sheer volume of movies he’s done should be a warning sign enough, some abysmal attempts at comedy over the years.
 
I've never seen an Adam Sandler film and never wanted too. However I tried this one and it is brilliant. You just need to get through the first 10 mins of the annoying music and chaos and you get hooked.
