Unveiling of Albert Park Cenotaph

Special thanks AytonMews!

My Grandad’s name is on the Albert Park Cenotaph and he‘s also somewhere in the attending crowd in this 1922 pic. As a just-turned 16 year old in 1915, he was LIA in the Dardenelles but happily was able to make his way home to Boro some time after the War. He passed in 1963.

If the unveiling was November 11, 1922, my Dad would have been born 16 days later on November 27. He passed in 2008.

The photo is in my Historic Middlesbrough book. I have a few more that I digitised when I scanned this.

Shameless plug but it also features in my Nostalgic Middlesbrough 2024 Calendar if anyone is interested (Ayresome also features!)

George Pounder - Panel 16

there is also details available for a RAF pilot in Linthorpe Cemetery - William Pounder - Leading Aircraftman of Heywood St Middlesbrough, would he be another relative, Ravs?
Thanks JVM. Yes, George Pounder on Panel 16 is my Grandad. I’m not aware of any direct family connection to William Pounder. Always enjoy my visits to Albert Park!
