US PGA Golf

I guess Covid is gone in the US ? Packed crowds no distancing or masks and the usual idiots shouting get in the hole every shot.

Was a bit strange to watch as they did absolutely none of what they were meant to be doing to allow this to go ahead with fans.

They were outside through and the risk was low, but I wasn't a fan of them all going wild and banging into the players, but I wouldn't have been keen on that with/ without covid, just seems risky to me.

Devil's advocate says Georgia has really low case numbers, but the morons you get at USA golf will have flying in from all over the place.

Really don't get why people go absolutely wild at golf though, do they support one guy and not others, or are they just hammered and cheering whoever is winning? I get it at the Ryder Cup as it's easy to define who is on your side, and who isn't etc, but this isn't.

Good to see Phil win though, just shows that anyone can still win, at any age, and it's good that golf is going in phases, one player looks like they may dominate for years, then they just get reigned back in, and someone else takes over. Beats watching Bryson win.

I didn't like the end - it was uncomfortable and vastly out of control. It was different to East Lake & Tiger in that Tiger had already played his approach to the 18th and they were following behind what looked like State Troopers.

The Troopers at Kiawah were all over the gaff and the "security" looked an absolute shambles. It is easy to sit there and say it is all part of the atmosphere but that wasn't a healthy atmosphere on that 18th fairway. I dare say there will be a large enquiry as to how they allowed that to happen. Historically, fans would be allowed to walk the 18th once the final group was walking up to the green and there is an expected level of respect for the players and officials. Not surprisingly, there was none of that last night from our American compatriots.
