I have 350 (250 upgraded to 350 with Volt) for £31 fixed for 2 years. I called to cancel when they tried to up it to 50 quid.....Im paying £50 a month for 350 Meg fibre broadband with Virgin. Does that sound fair ?

They told me that for years. Had a landline we didn’t use but every time i tried to cancel they told me my bill would go up. Finally got rid last year.Weirdly some of VM's packages can be cheaper with a landline or tv even if you don't use it.
Just looked I’m in Ingleby and showing as available. 900 mbs for £27.99 a month at least it gives me a bargaining tool with virgin.im paying £30 for 1gb (1000 meg) upload and download with youfibre, if its in your area go for it!!!
I doubt they'll compete much as they can't really compete on price, or even speed atm as youfibre can do 8gbJust looked I’m in Ingleby and showing as available. 900 mbs for £27.99 a month at least it gives me a bargaining tool with virgin.
The Network Virgin Media are installing In Northumberland is XGSPON ( similar to Youfibre). Capable of 10gb asymmetrical ( but currently only as 1gig down and 100 meg up). Couple of my friends live in Blyth and rate it highly.Up here in Northumberland Virgin have just laid cables for us. Currently only option for full fibre but had that much bother with them when we lived in the Boro that we are sticking with our 50 meg Sky!

Yes, they've already been through the price increase issue this year but they've just changed how they do the annual price increase calc so it's opened another round of being able to cancel a contract until october 31stIm under contract until December is it true i can give notice as they put the price up mid contract ?
You can haggle now because you can leave penalty freeSadly can't get YouFibre or any other fibre options in South Shields yet so I'm stuck with Virgin. 1GB im currently on with virgin..next option from alternate providers 67MB
Current deal ends with November so I look forward to hours of haggling soon.
I still have my ntlworld email and I left virgin 5 years backOne thing is we would lose our Virgin (ntlworld) emails if we were to leave we have allsorts linked to them ?
Ok thanks. I did read where it is deactivated after 6 months.I still have my ntlworld email and I left virgin 5 years back
I'd migrate away from using that email though as isp emails are always a bad idea for this very reason.
Either get gmail or set up your own domain but for ease of use just get gmail.
Virgin say they wipe the emails after 6 months I think but it'd never happened for me or anyone I know.
You can login and set it up to forward to your gmail account then just change anything you can think of or that comes through
You can haggle now because you can leave penalty free
have you tried checking with cityfibre for their plans? Looks like they're right nearby

I read somewhere that basically in a lot of South Tyneside it's waiting for virgin to convert their old coax hybrid network to full fibre over the next few years and then there will be more fibre coverage from lots of providers.
Well I'm still getting emails now with my most recent one on the 9th sept but I'm pretty relaxed with it now as all the important stuff changed over quite quickly, so doubt you have much to worry about but even 6 months would likely be fine. But setting up the auto forward first should keep you covered. Find Gmail's anti spam a lot better than virgins wasOk thanks. I did read where it is deactivated after 6 months.
