Villa bid for Morgan Rogers

I'm far from being controversial, I just don't think he's an established Championship footballer never mind a Premier League player. He is nowhere near the levels of Archer or Ramsey and Villa let both of them players go.

5 million is a lot for a player who wouldn't be in our starting elven if it wasn't for injuries.
Here we go with people overrating Ramsey again. Rogers will have a better career.

He also is in our best team. Carrick has given him time to get used to the sourroundings and way we play and now I’d be surprised if he’s not in the starting eleven for the rest of the season. He’s a special, special talent.

Come on, you honestly don't think he's as good as Ramsey.

Lose 1 player to invest in possibly 3 players makes sense to me if we recruit wisely. Makes us a better, stronger squad. We will soon move on if he goes. Wouldnt accept less than 10million though and a few clauses added too

But teams are only going to pay what a player is worth.
I'm sorry BG but that is objectively wrong. Is Caicedo worth over £100m? Lavia £60m? Did Maguire ever do anything to justify an £85m transfer fee? Anthony at Man Utd cost similar. These are but a few out of hundreds of examples of teams overpaying.

Rogers true value based on what he has achieved so far may be nowhere near £15m, but we don't want to sell and we don't need to sell. So if Villa or anyone else want to sign him, they have to pay what we demand. If they're not prepared to do so, he's going nowhere.

Sure I read that Man Utd’s own scouts deemed Antony worth about £25m and they still ended up paying £60m more 😅

Fair enough. Well managed clubs will only pay what a player is worth....

But another thing to consider is that all of those examples are players who were playing top level and international football at the time of the sale. So there will have been less risk perceived with them.

I wouldn't be interested in a 'loan back' at all. What's the point?

I'd rather give someone who actually has a future at the club a game than someone who we all know would be gone in a few months.

Yeah, I never understand the clamour for loan backs.

I'd sooner a clean break.

Leeds loaned back Jack Clarke and basically stopped playing him because there wasn't any reward to persisting.
