You're the one who said it was a myth and contradicted another poster, not me.

The majority of his goals have came against lower league teams, and until Saturday, the majority of his goal contributions came against lower league opposition too, and it's from a much smaller set of games.

You didn't say that it was no longer true, you said it was a myth, which implies that it's never been true.

Boro4Life's point was a fair one, he's only just developing in to a solid contributor in the Championship in the last few months.

These stats are interesting.
Back up my thoughts of just why Villa let Philogene go on a permanent to Hull for just £5m (though buy back clause in contract).

Obviously every player has different attributes. Villa Manager must see specific qualities in Rogers he think his team lacks?

Just a bit weird that homegrown Villa players such as Archer & Philogene have been sold by them

They’re just loans disguised as transfer to get round the loan changes and improve villa’s FFP

The comparison stands, Silvera is offal/awful.
 
Not sure he will leave this window, if Villa are only offering 5/6M and we want 15M. That is a big difference, and would need them to up their offer to 10M at least. I doubt they will do that.

Totally agree. It’s a key point that not having Rogers won’t hugely change the outcome of our season, it’s not like losing Hackney.

My only small worry about letting it run would be damaging our very good relationship with Villa. Been lots of back and forth with them and to our benefit.

Then again, just like my ex, they started it by taking the **** 😁

Unfortunately modern football is ran by the players. But i agree. We don’t lose much by him sulking. A player who isn’t giving 100% and sits on the bench. But he will want to be away. His head will have been turned and rightly or wrongly we can’t do much about it other than get the best deal for the club.

You’re making a lot of assumptions. He may be open to leaving but he must be aware he will be sacrificing a lot of game time by doing so. He’s got no realistic chance of playing in their first team this season. I’m sure Carrick can talk him around if he does want to go. Maybe a new contract and a reasonable pay rise would help.
 
City will get a big % sellon if he goes so it really has to be worthwhile for us to sell him to a team in CL position & challenging.. & leave us in the lurch as far as playoff places go .
 
Apparently 20% sell on for City. No doubt added to help pay the FFP lawyers 😂

Jokes aside if it's genuinely 20% then the apparent 5-6mil bid wouldn't be a big payday for us. You'd wonder why City would add such a clause. Do they really need 1-2mil or less? I get it selling a youngster like Cole Palmer.

Yet I guess if we get double figures for him. Then you'd call it a good 'flip' over a 7 month period.

I do think he's got so much more potential to get better. I'd like to keep him. Yet it would be hard for us to say no. Also if his 'head is turned' then you'd not want to keep a player who doesn't want to play for us.

Did you like that setups for the coburn goal where he lifted it over the keeper a few weeks ago?

That absolutely perfectly weighted outside of the foot ball from a really straight angle, which he had the vision to see in real time and weight absolutely perfectly beyond to the defender but slow enough that coburn could get there before the keeper??


Watch it again. Watch the inside match day camera angle. Will tell you this now. Jones, forss, greenwood, etc can not play that pass. Most players on our squad don't have the capability to open up a defence from nothing like that.

You either have that or you don't. That's why Aston villa are interested.
