Vodafone roaming charges coming back

Yes just heard this. I think it said for upgrades and new users? I renewed my sim only contract for 2 years last month. So not sure if it effects me or not.

To be fair it was handy when I was in the forces. I once racked up a £650 phone bill phoning from Latvia (Riga).... Bad times.

Just seems like everything is going up. Its cr*p being an adult 😂

wont affect you until you upgrade or renew

Giff gaff are still free. Hopefully 02 and Giff gaff remain free and force the hands of the other providers.

I think the 'logic' goes that it is the EU punishing us for leaving, which shows we were right to leave, but there are still no consequences of leaving, like what we said.
I see what you've done there. Nice, a cut and paste Brexit reply. Should save time, effort and heartache in the coming months.

I imagine, if two providers (EE and Vodafone) are now charging normal roaming rates, it’s more likely the others will follow suit. Why leave money on the table?

Pretty sure others will follow suit. Easy revenue stream for them which will ironically probably pave the way for a challenger brand to pop up offering roaming as a USP.

License to print money, so they are bound to follow.
The irony is that inside the EU, consumers are protected from such charging.
Blojobs Britain, Levelling Down. Rich getting richer. And poor mugs getting mugged.

Daftest thing I've read for a long while...EU PUNISHING us? Anything goes wrong with us leaving and the chickens coming home to roost, just blame the EU....wonder what else we can blame the EU for cos WE left ....

BBC making quite a big play of this - surprise surprise - its likely to be £1 a day or say £28 for 2 adults for a 14 day holiday in Greece.

To hire a car its now around a £1000 for 14 days in Greece and and has doubled in price (£500 increase), no mention of this on the BBC, to my knowledge - they seem paranoid at times about leaving the EU.

The Radio 5 presenter went on a big rant about how its unfair to be people in NI as they sometimes have to use ROI transmitters and this according to him pay roaming charges. After his 90 second rant, his guest said roaming charges with Vodafone did not include Republic of Ireland . There was a big silence, I had to smile.

I think you’re missing the point. This is yet anything that is going to cost us money. And yet another thing that could entirely be avoided

The point I am making is that car rental charges in the EU have gone through the roof, but the BBC focuses on 2 mobile phone companies that have increased charges by around £1 a day while a person is on holiday in Mainland Europe. Their radio presenter even got his facts wrong, but he was loving a long impassioned rant about the UK leaving the EU.

Maybe you believe the BBC is totally unbiased in its new stories on this topic?

Yeah fancy the bbc telling the truth about this brexit mess, enemies of the people the lot of them

In general I trust the BBC, but the Central BBC functions primarily based in London have found it difficult to maintain a balanced view on the UK's membership of the EU. Yes re introduction of £1 a day for roaming charges is disappointing, but they had it as a major story on Radio 5. If the average person goes on holiday to Mainland Europe for 14 days its £14 per phone per year if they belong to one of the two networks involved. Another major story was correctly in my opinion about global warming, it would be great if they could discourage the growing number of people flying off to the Med and beyond, on holiday, and the tonnes of carbon that it releases into the atmosphere.

Maybe because car rental charges is an EU thing. Where as roaming charges for UK customers is a British thing and a breast thing and therefore noteworthy. Honestly, I know brexitists like to deflect but that's a poor one.
