Warms us all up on these cold days

I was 7 at the time and never went to AP as my dad wasn’t into footy but I used to stand out the front of my house listening to the crowd roar and on a night see the floodlights lit up and the noise was louder somehow . That was enough that pulled me in 77 on my own at 11

Simon English, I think his name was, I have the book in the loft, in the early 90's wrote about all the grounds in England, Scotland & Wales
He wrote, when you go to night matches you look for the beaming floodlights, when you go to Middlesbrough theres aloads of floodlights with trainlines close by to AP

Great stuff. Just fabulous memories. Who was the Delboy lookalike character on the bench with the white flat cap?

Thanks. He wasn’t there for very long. See he caretakered the managers position at Sunderland in 1976.

He died a couple of years ago aged 86 - an unsung cog in that great 73-74 team.
At the other end of the bench - Jim Headridge, trainer, another unsung hero, sadly no longer with us

Nice to see Angus Young in the club shop in awe of Big Jack - I wonder if he was thinking about that moment when he penned the song ‘Big Jack’...🤔
