Warnock story from the ever growing Footy podcast circuit

So many of those kind of stories doing the rounds on the podcast circuit, usually featuring someone 'old school' like Warnock, Redknapp or Pulis. Often the stories are full to the brim with artistic license, or are just untrue.
Its the modern 'secret footballer' who had popular books 10-15 years ago. Many of the stories, including a few concerning Boro were fabricated.

These types of stories were once only heard from washed up ex pros on the after dinner speaker trail. Now, they are all over these podcasts that were a bit amusing over lockdown, now are just pretty sad.

Apologies, in advance for my view above, maybe I am a miserable old fool, but I just dont find these stories either believable or particularly funny really.

Yeah my favourite made up stories are some of Gazza’s.

Like the one about booking Jimmy five-bellies a flight from Newcastle to Rome and sending him via Buenos Aires, Yellowknife and Cape Town or whatever load of cobblers it was. And him turning up and saying “it’s further than I thought”. Yeah that definitely happened. I bet the reality is he had to change at Schiphol.

Or the one about him diving into a lobster tank in a seafood restaurant because they were taking too long, and sitting there dripping wet for the rest of the meal. Course you did Gazza.

Absolute weapon.

Using the clubs pre season trip not as a chance to bond the team, or assess players, but as a chance to line his own pockets, and probably generate a bit of publicly about himself too.

SO glad he's out of our club.
top class bloke in my opinion, kept the club up and saved us from league one.

Not sure why some people seem to have such an agenda against him

There was one Hignett told on that one with Jon Parkin about Ravanelli’s mobile phone bills. They sound mildly amusing but they’re almost certainly complete horsesh*t.

No different than some the Cloughie stories from Mark Crossley... about how he made him play for his sons sunday league team and made him pay the fine the team got for fielding an ineligible player out of his own wages.

You'd hear that about another manager and think "What a cnut". i suppose it all depends on how you feel about the manager before you hear thte story.
