Owls explain Rhodes situation and Boro keen on Glatzel
Cardiff are reportedly interested in Sheffield Wednesday striker Jordan Rhodes.
Mick McCarthy remained tight-lipped when quizzed about the prospect of signing the 30-year-old yesterday, stating it would be "wrong" to talk about it at present.
"I wouldn't comment on any transfer news as it might compromise any deal. I wouldn't comment on anything," McCarthy said after the 1-1 draw with Millwall on Saturday.
"So you can take that whether I am or I'm not.
"But I wouldn't tell anybody anyway because it's just wrong. It's wrong for the players we have in the building. It's wrong for the two clubs involved.
"I fully understand you asking though."
Neil Warnock's Middlesbrough could turn their attentions to Cardiff's Robert Glatzel should they fail to land their main target, Bristol City's Famara Diedhiou, according to our colleagues in the capital.
Any move from Boro for Glatzel would free up the Bluebirds to make a play for Rhodes, with the Owls admitting that he faces an uncertain future in Yorkshire.
Caretaker boss Neil Thompson explained the situation to Yorkshire Live this week: "Jordan has obviously been out a little while and because of the situation with the ice last week, we need people to get a full week's training.
"Jordan's one of the six strikers we've got and trying to find the right permutation is difficult.
"Jordan comes into that group and he's just got to keep focus.
"It's frustrating for all of them whether they're not involved or they're on the bench.
"That's life as a footballer I'm afraid."
Maybe Glatzel could head in our direction if Rhodes fills the gap at Cardiff? Mick and Neil are mates and McArthy needs to freshen up his ailing squad. Rhodes isnt as daft as I thought - more clubs than Tiger Woods, he must have made a tidy penny in wages and transfers over the years?!
