We may have upset a Celtic fan

to be fair they were the first British team to win the European cup so they certainly played at a higher level that us but they are screwed now as there is no TV money in the Scottish game compared to England if they were in the english leagues don't think it would be too long before they were in the top half of the premier with the money they could generate
Yeah, history means nothing for signing players though, not unless it's recent.

With that fanbase they probably could get mid table maybe, but they aren't so can't. Loads of players would still pick a smaller London side, rather than wanting to live up there etc. Not that Glasgow or Edinburgh aren't great mind, I love them both, but players want to be where the action is.

I'm hoping he's wrong on the FFP stuff. The rest of the article seems fair comment. We are a rich(ish) man's toy.

He's referring to one telegraph article, behind a paywall, which refers to how all clubs are struggling with FFP after covid. It gave a lot of information on how Bristol were struggling and expecting a points deduction next year, then randomly named some other clubs including Middlesbrough expecting severe scrutiny with nothing to back up the claim.

Most people won't read the full article, but our names in the headline (probs to get more clicks from Derby fans) but now everyone comments on how we're facing FFP sanctions, despite no evidence to show that we're in a bad position.

It seems fair comment?

It's a grown man spitting his dummy out because another team beat his to a signing and writing an incredibly childish and bitter blog post to vent his frustrations about it.

There's very little substance to it and his focus on trophies is hilarious.

There have been 334 possible major domestic trophies (league and cups) in the history of Scottish football, Celtic have won 111 of them.

The most successful club in England is Manchester United, they have 37 major domestic trophies out of a possible 313.

Celtic have only had 44 seasons where they didn't win a trophy in their history out of a possible 124.

If you sign for Celtic and stay for long enough, you're guaranteed a trophy, and that's a sign of the weakness of the league, not a sign of the quality of Celtic.

Rangers and Celtic are wasted in Scotland which is what he is really frustrated about.

We are partly an ex Boro council estate boy's play thing correct - but we also are the 18th best supported team in the UK over the last 100 years - there was a Boro before Gibson - Mannion and Hardwick played at Hampden representing GB in 1947?
