What’s going wrong?

What’s everyone’s opinion on what’s going so badly wrong?
Only really lost Tav from last season and surely that wouldn’t normally cause a team to completely imploded. I get we have lost his great energy and pace but we seem to have lost every part of what makesa team tick
Well it looks clear that the powers that be are not improving the squad - in fact it is getting worse. Could be that financial restraints areto blame but there is a argument to say that two top Championship players would be a better bargain that four or more also-rans.
Whatever the reason if the club does not upgrade the playing staff soon then we can look forward to flirting with relegation at best.

the breaking point was Tav wanting to go , maybe he could see what the future was ... this started the rot for Wilder along with the really bad transfer market , I mean Mowett for Tav ... this really says it all about ambition .... my WBA mate told me they all knew Mowett was lacking pace after some injury last season ...

On paper the side is as good as the one last season if anything a bit better.

Giles, Steffan, Muniz and Clarke as a left sided CB are all improvements to counter balance losing Tav.

Some of last seasons players are not performing as well as they did last season (Jones, Crooks, Dijksteel were very good last season and this season poorer). Maybe Crooks is playing with a hernia problem, Jones is heavily marked and no getting support he used to.

Some of the defending is just poor - Stokes second, Cardiff's first and third. QPRs second and third, Sheff United's second, Millwall's second

Players coming in late this season had not helped - we are told Clarke is not fully fit because he missed pre season, same for Luongo. Steffan seeme to have needed to adjust and was not catching the ball in his first 10 games

Seem to be a lot more chopping and changing this season, and sometimes we just haven't had the run of ball, instead of pinching late winners Blackpool away and Reading at home, we have lost them Stoke and Watford away.

Some strange decisions with Giles in the last 2 away games to not start him which to me have back fired.

Tav going was him wanting to play in the Premier League - He had been a regular for 3 years in the Championship - no Championship side in the same position could hang onto such as a player who wants to go and double his wage.

We’ve lost the love. 2014/15 squad had it last seasons squad had it.. this season. Not so much.

For those that seem unable to grasp the basics of the Tav situation. It was a perfect storm, made his wishes known he wanted PL football, only bournemouth fancied him so no bidding war, if the club turn down the offer they will have reneged on a commitment and been left with an unhappy player. The money will be spent in January.

If Luton Town, Reading, QPR and Swansea can threaten - without pouring millions down the drain - what the flip are we doing?

But then why well him ???

Did we need the money ???

What did we do with it ??

If the likes of Blackburn can keep brereton diaz an cov gyokeres we could have kept tav.

We sold our season for 10 mil and didn’t even spend it.
We were also told all summer, “We can’t get players in because other clubs need replacements in first.” Then what did we do? Sold him without a replacement lined up!

We’re a joke at the moment.

No it won’t

£3m for a striker we’re hardly using seems like a lot of money when we’re at least one midfielder down.
Yep.
Its baffling.
Take a look at the article just posted - see what you think?
Its a source for discussion......
Its a long read mind.

You were correct, and I'm amazed the so-called professionals at the club couldn't see what was coming from this sale, because it was obvious to me as well, a rank amateur. Tavernier made the side tick, you just can't play Wilder's system with no legs and dynamism in the middle. We got a taste of how poor the midfield was without him last season when we played Hull at home (after ten home wins on the bounce). You may recall Isaiah was out, so Wilder switched Tav to RWB and brought in McGree. We lost 0-1, creating nothing, with the 'highlight' of the game being Tavernier busting a gut to get back and clear one off the line for us at 0-0.

The system doesn't function without a mobile ball carrier and it was suicide to let him go on the eve of the season with no suitable replacement. And let's be honest, his qualities are basically irreplaceable at our level/budget unless we luck out by bringing another through the academy.

As you rightly observed he was worth way more than £10-12m to us because it means we have to tear up the whole system our supposedly 'long term project' manager was wed to. We have to play 4-2-3-1 now (which is also obvious) because that is all our trundling midfield can handle. We'll improve a lot once we do that, but I wish the club would stop pretending they have a long term plan. If you have a long term plan, you stick to it and you recruit accordingly. What you don't do is sell *the* key player for the system, who you (really should) know full well you can't replace, on the eve of the season, because that's suicidal.

We all got duped by a one trick, 3-5-2, overlapping centre half's, pony who has been seriously found out by everyone in the league.

We were too easy to play against and had no plan B.

Same thing happened to him in his second season in the Prem with the blades. Then he spat his dummy out when **** went south.

You can give as many soundbites as you like and remind us of how experienced you are but once you throw players under the bus because of your own shortcomings you lose the dressing room.

Attitude over ability, Wilder had neither at the end.
