When will X

finally be known as , and written as , well ..just X ?

The way I see and hear and read it now, everytime , it's just "X , formally known as Twitter"

Surely there's not too many people left that don't know it's former name,

I'm not a user , just find it funny that a short representational form has sort of gone South a bit

First thing I thought of, and I actually thought he had changed his name to "the artist", due to all I ever heard was "the artist formerly known as prince" and thinking that was "the artist, formally known as prince", I had no idea he changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol or some other crap.

Shows how much it worked mind, as even his biggest fans call themselves Prince fans.

So will everyone else, largely as the main thing to it is tweeting or a tweet, so twitter, the url and everything are all linked, and are stuck that way as it's been that way for 15+ years.

When people talk about it, they say "did you see that on twitter?" or "did you see that tweet?", nothing is changing that, from main users, and the main users already exist, and will likely not be replicated to the same follower level etc.

The only chance he's got of a new name taking off is if he came up with a better name, as X just does not work, it's too nondescript and doesn't mean anything. He also needs to stop actually using the twitter url, and he would need to do it soon before twitter dies. It was unlikely to die before he took over, but it's probably 50/50 now.
