Where to watch in Manchester?

Staying in Manchester to get my daughter settled in at uni.

Any recommendations for a good place to watch the game tonight? Preferably with the volume on.

I'm staying on Portland Street.

TIA

From Portland St try:

The Paramount - a Wetherspoons on the corner of Portland St and Oxford St with big screens - usually have the main sport event on

The City Arms and the Vine Inn, both next door to each other on a street just behind St Peters Square I'm sure do live football, as does the Nags Head, close to Deansgate if you don't mind a short 10-15 min walk

Jump on the bus up to Fallowfield and go the Friendship - its only a quid to get up there - one of the bar staff is a Boro lad - he'll get it on for you. Plus you can keep an eye on the daughter as its a student pub on a night. anything with a 40 in the number will get you up there.

its been far too long since I've been out in Manchester I don't know the pubs with footy on anymore.

Port Street Beer house may have it on and it doesnt decent ale.

Go to Brotherhood, best place in Manchester to watch football

I'd actually say the best place is Second City Bar, which is in the fairly recently trendy Ancoats district, and there are some great other places around there too. But I haven't been in since March. Can't guarantee about volume.

The Tib Street Tavern or the Green are both safe bets too, and both not far from Piccadilly. They'll put volume on but you might have to ask.

If you're not bothered about atmosphere and just want the match on loads of screens with the volume definitely turned up, then Cafe Football (part of the National Football Museum) is the best bet. The bar is open til 10pm.

Not been to Brotherhood, could also be a winner.

Don't think PSB shows football mate. The hellhole next door does, but its grim.

Thanks for all the advice folks. Plenty to choose from.

Haven't brought any Boro gear with me but there'll be no mistaking I'm a Boro fan if/when the leather bag of air ends up in their onion sack!

Oh yeah, Tib St Tavern is probs the best bet, it will definitely be on there and its a good bar. I was just thinking where's nearish to Portland St. Anyway, you can't fall off.
