Which Co-op did your family use and what was your membership number?

Belle Vue and 52121. From the 1960s for me.

Why do I still remember that number? When I cannot always remember if I have put a sweetener in a cup of tea/coffee I make for the missus.

My nana used the one at Normanby Top from when it opened until 1982. The Trolley bus stop was right next to it. Pre school she would look after me and we woud take their empty orange boxes made of thin wood and wire and break them up for her open coal fire, so no central heating, gas or electric fires for her. She could survive on the equivalent of £130 per week today, having lived through the hunger 30s. That Co-op shop kept her warm and alive.
