Who gets your vote?

I would have to go for Tyson Fury (if he doesn’t again remove himself from the list), in terms of achievement and story I would give it to him.

If not then I would go for Radacanu with one of the stories of the year.

Emma Raducanu is as stone wall a banker as you will get - shame she won’t be there to pick it up in person.

Not a lot to choose between really. I suppose Raducanu's victory in the US Open was the most "amazing", Peaty is the sporting story - completely dominating his discipline. Dunno, between those two for me.

BBC love middle class tennis. Radacanu's emergence is probably the biggest surprise that I can ever remember in that sport, and indeed any other sport.

If you wanted to vote for someone who has had an amazing career, then it has to be Adam Peaty. He is genuinely the best in the world at what he does and has been so for year after year.

Fury has beaten the same guy again. It was great, but I would not vote for him

It was also special to see Tom Daley get a gold after all this time. But for me, I would vote for Radacanu or Peaty.

Quite a strong field. Leave out the boxer. Sterling in another year perhaps, and it might have been different if England had won the Euros. Four other strong contenders. Raducanu probably favourite but not nailed on I reckon. Can I be the first to mention 'personality' just to get it out of the way?

And, on the basis of this thread, if you have to be able to spell the name of who you vote for, Raducanu hasn't a chance.

Peaty for me - best in his field by a long way, very inspirational and a bit of a character as well but Raducanu will win it I suspect.

Not nailed on ? She is 1/14 with the bookies and it’s 20-1 bar. That’s nailed on.

Raducanu is a cert I agree. I wouldn’t vote for her. If I could be bothered I would vote for Peaty but I won’t vote as it’s a waste of time this year (hence why he won’t win.)

Only one winner. It's clear she will win it so not much point voting.

I don't know why they included Fury (again). He doesn't want it and won't accept it. You may as well give another sports person a night out.

Raducanu. Unbelievable achievement from out of nowhere. Had barely played on the tour. She went pro just before covid struck. Then decided to concentrate on her a levels and stay safe with family rather than travel teh world hitting balls over a net. Then had to go through qualifying at the US Open just to get to the main draw. I think she had played one pro match at indian wells, and lost prior to the US open, other than that she hadn't played pro outside of the UK.

Tyson beat an overblown cruiserweight with no defence and no record beating anyone half decent.

No idea how Sterling has got in there, they seemed to have picked ppl who have no chance of beating Raducanu. Thought Hamilton should have been in there myself the way he drove himself back to be/nearly be champion and his stance on various human rights issues

Sterling's goals got us to a final mate. And plenty of people didn't even think that he should have been in the squad. It'll be Raducanu though. Not sure where the 'personality' bit comes in. I don't know any of those people so how am I supposed to know what kind of a personality they have?

Maybe Michael Masi was on the shortlisting panel and he removed him at the last minute?
