Who is best Akpom or Assombalonga...? defender I'm talking

Well theres not much to debate in terms of what they offer in attack. But for me BA is superior at the back. He quite often gets to the ball. He doesn't let the ball bounce and he doesn't test our goalkeeper as well as Akpom did today.
Isn't it the first rule of defending not to let the ball bounce ? Especially in the box.

I slated Akpom after pretty much the first or second game and probably rightly got some stick back for writing him off so soon. I said at the time he would not get 10 starts. Done nothing to warrant a start again.
I just wonder if Johnson could play lone striker. Hes got an eye for goal, can trap a ball and can go past a player. Him and Whatmore might just work in a 442. It just could't be any worse than the aforementioned 2.

Its still difficult to believe we actually sold Bamford and kept hold of Britt, how can anyone who knows football sanction this?

So Pulis said anyway, but like everything else that he said I wouldnt believe a word of it
He's not here now, he didn't want to be here for our 2nd run at promotion either.. so dunno what the big deal is.

I would rather have had him in the squad over Gestede, but he's doing well with Leeds right now. He could easily have stayed with us and been totally dump.

Mitrovic didn't want to come to boro because of Pulis, same with Tammy Abraham and Yannick Bolasie.

Did Akpom really cost us £2.8m or was that widely reported figure a number that included his salary package?

Billy Sharp on loan? He doesn't get a kick at Sheff UTD. 32 but won't be missing sitters (I'm not sure how mobile he is with one up top).

He would be a decent shout. Shane Long is someone who isn’t getting much football at Saints, wonder if he would drop a division if he got told he would be the main man? Not a prolific scorer but work horse, pacey and works the channels well. Good in the air to. Probably out of our reach but I would ask the question

The service to our strikers is very poor, it doesn't give them much of an opportunity, yes they are not that good but with descent service I'm sure they would be better.

Playing one up front today against that defence was a poor decision, I felt sorry of Akpom, he had no chance against the Stoke defence mainly on his own.

So we are righting Akpom off after 10 games in a team that’s not great attacking wise. Looks a bit like last year with Bola and Dijksteel in a team who couldn’t defend. Let’s see were we are after the next transfer window when hopefully NW can hopefully somehow solve our attacking problems before righting players off. Imo thou Britt will still be crap and that’s after more than 10 games.

Not sure mate. Tough window January to be fair. Can’t imagine we will have the funds to buy anyone. Maybe a loan?
I can't see us making any permeant signings in January, seemed so hard to get anyone over the line the last window. I imagine it will be twice as hard now to get someone decent.

Fletcher coming back could be a big boost for us. Bolasie seemed close last time round.. would make sense if a loan deal happened there.

Honestly I can see us making a push for the playoff places.. but I can't for the life of me see where the goals are gonna come from.

From almost relegation to a top six finish would be incredible IMO we're still only 10th now ( I say only, again top ten from last year is amazing) it's the hope, the possibility, the idea that we could be in the mix. OOF!! drives yer mad this hope stuff.

Not sure what has happened to Akpom. First few games he impressed me. He looked like he could hold the ball up, bring others into play and was making some really clever runs in behind. Today he was useless.

As frustrating as Britt is I think he needs to play ahead of Akpom, as I just don't see Akpom scoring goals.

Trouble is Johnsons scared of his own shadow, the nasty ruffty tuffty centre back will go bo at me. He was scared stiff of the left back marking him today, too weak to play up top. Div 1 player at best

Yes it seems Akpom started well at Hull but tailed off in form and goals.
