Why aren't we shooting?

It can only be the manager's instructions, surely. Either that or a total lack of confidence. In Dijksteel's case the latter, since he always seems to weigh up the idea of shooting for a moment, but never ever does.

Not just weeks btw , years it's been going on, especially when the away team scores 1st,don't know how to break teams down, sad they've gone back to this with the current set up though.

Over passing the setup play.. & then failing the final pass.
Not enough players in the area & too many passing pointless triangles on the edge of the box.

Dijksteel needs some serious shooting practice because he gets into such great positions, is by far our best attacking CB (even more than Paddy at present) but won’t ever have a go.

Look at Watmore's miss against Fulham again. It drops perfectly for him, about 8 yards out. He puts it into row Z.

If you can't score from 8 yards, perfectly positioned, then you aren't going to score from 20 yards.

Connolly is never in the right place to receive the ball and take a shot. He hasn't scored a goal since he's been at the Boro. Get rid of him now.

Balogun miskicks a lot, he always tries to leather it and ends up scuffing it wide to the left of the goal.

Sporar isn't worth bothering with. Just send him back.

Coburn is worth persisting with.

The player who should be here is Ikpeazu. He'd be a handful for big strong defenders but Wilder didn't see it.

As I said in another thread, it's managers' instructions. It's been happening all season under Wilder, only it wasn't an issue when we were scoring goals and winning games. Now we're anxious for the team to score goals because we need to win games, so every time a player has the ball just outside the box there's cries of "Shoot" from the crowd, and a collective moan when they opt to pass to a team-mate instead.

Remember the goal away at QPR? We were all creaming over Wilderball at the time. When it works it's brilliant to watch but I fear that we've been found out.

Crooks hasn't been in good form lately but I actually think he was a miss for us today down our right side. There was no real link-up play between Jones, McGree and Djiksteel.

This quote from @Teesste in the thread below says a lot.

"As fans we probably need to remember this the next time we are screaming at someone to lump it into the box or going nuts because someone didn't shoot from 30 yards out!"

Ikpeazu is an immobile lump utterly unsuited to a team looking to attempt a promotion push.

I’ve no idea why he is lauded by some, utterly bizarre people thinking he’d make a difference.
You haven't seen Sporar, Connolly and Balogun play have you?

Seeing Ikpeazu's goal against Mansfield just confirms that he shouldn't be on loan and should be starting.

As mentioned above, gone are the days of shoot on sight, percentages etc. Wilders play is focused on getting the ball into an almost "unmissable" position, similar to Pep at Barca. Whilst the forwards are clearly not without blame we haven't been creating many of those chances recently.

It says a lot that two of our best chances of the game came from McNair floating the ball into the box for McGree who couldn't quite bring it down, and I seem to remember Coburn almost getting his head onto a ball which McGree floated in from the right late on.

I feel we need to try this more in the remaining games and be prepared to mix up our game if we're going to win games.

There is no way a manager says don't have a shot.
