Chris Wilder has expressed his delight after Middlesbrough announced the signing of Finland striker Marcus Forss. The 23-year-old has penned a four-year deal with Boro after the club agreed terms with Premier League side Brentford.

Forss was an every present as Thomas Frank's side won promotion to the top flight of English football, scoring ten goals in 50 appearances. The striker had a taste of the Premier League last season with the Bees before spending the second-half of the campaign on loan with Hull City.

He's the sixth new arrival through the door on Teesside after the arrivals of Liam Roberts, Ryan Giles, Darragh Lenihan, Zack Steffen, and Tommy Smith. "We're delighted to bring Marcus in," said Wilder.

"He played a big part in Brentford winning promotion a couple of seasons ago, and he knows this league well. He's a good athlete and all-round player. We're really looking forward to what he can bring to the squad."

Phil Giles, Brentford FC Director of Football, said: “On behalf of everyone at Brentford, I want to wish Marcus all the best for the future. Middlesbrough are an ambitious club, and this is a great opportunity for Marcus. I think we can all look back on his five years with us with pride.

“As one of our first Brentford B players he came in to a new group and made an immediate impact. He showed the pathway for young players here and it was fantastic to see him play and score in the Championship, as well as for his country. He got some very important goals for us and took part in some memorable games. I am sure our fans will remember him fondly.”
