Wilder was not sacked for football reasons

I’ve seen a few say we let wilder go because results etc.

Let’s be real here we rarely sack managers if ever for results reasons he was sacked publicly by Gibson ( no mutual consent waffle) because of the other issues.

Same as monk again not football related.

So can we stop including him in the sacked for results threads.

Agree, Monk was sacked for non football reasons. Why was Wilder sacked if not for football results?

No

It was pretty obvious what happened with Wilder imo, he wanted to build his own team, and wasn't able/allowed to do so.
Coming out with statements like 'I didn't come here to finish mid table' and banging on about keeping shirt numbers open for 'important signings' that he expected to bring in, he threw his toys out of his pram and the final p**s take was not playing Jones and Giles, can't remember who against, but he was being deliberately inept.

There was more to it than that

Wilder effectively chucked (or at least deliberately weakened us in) a couple of games trying to make a point to the recruitment team with his team selections IMO. Playing Bola at LCB when McNair was available and had done well there the prior season was just petulant.

Ultimately he cut his own nose off to spite his face and maybe if not for that he might have got a bit more time to turn things around despite the results, but they were starting to speak for themselves as well.

He left the club - how do you know he was sacked?
If he was it would have had to have been gross misconduct which has a pretty high burden of proof in football.

The likelihood is he was paid off - that’s not being sacked.

Because Gibson came out and publicly said so…

A statement released on the club's official website read: "Middlesbrough Football Club have terminated the contract of manager Chris Wilder with immediate effect.

He was sacked

He was sacked for multiple reasons, results was one of them. If he was winning games he wouldn't have been sacked.

It was similar to Mclaren, Gibson would have sacked Mclaren at the first possibility if he wasn't getting results because he couldn't trust him. Difference was, Mclaren won us a trophy, got us into Europe through the league and took us to a European final. Wilder missed out on the playoffs and had us down near the relegation zone.

People talk about us sacking managers too often, but I can only think of Mowbray and Woodgate who were sacked for poor results. Strachan too, but I think he left on his own accord. Karanka couldn't handle pressure, Monk had other circumstances, Pulis got to the end of his contract and we wanted to go in a different direction, Warnock was also because we wanted to go in a different direction and Wilder was linking himself to every job that was available. This isn't a Watford-like scenario.

Exactly we rarely if ever pull the trigger on poor performance. Look at Southgate in the prem.

There are very few ways you can get rid of a manager without agreeing a pay off. He has to be in breach of contract to get rid of him for no outlay. Most managers come to an agreement or do what Celtic did with Mowbray eg keep paying him until he gets another job and so resigns

If we'd had a good start to last season he would have remained manager so results clearly had an impact.
Are you saying if we had been top at the end of September he wouldn't have been sacked?

When any manager leaves a club the contract is terminated - so we agree.
He left with his remaining contract paid up

If that’s being sacked so be it
