Wilders presser

I'd guess Hernandez and Tavernier but because he rightly didn't name individuals we are all guessing, and as Boromart says you could add Howson and McNair to that
Not sure Daniels did too much wrong. An experienced forward in Evans was unmarked in the box for the first goal, and Bamba made a howler for the 2nd

agree. But that puts us weirdly in teh position of being 2 or 3 good signings away from being a very very good championship side. Put a player like:
- Scott Dann, Jake Cooper or Meikel Heilik at CB instead of Bamba
- Danny Drinkwater or Graham Shinnie at CDM
- Ben Brereton or Folarin Balogun at CF

Suddenly we are a very, very different propostion.

We're not a million miles away from where we need to be. Just a bit more quality in the middle defensively and up top alongside Sporar and it'll turn around quickly
Not Danny Drinkwater. A Burnley fan mate of mine thought his attitude stank the place out and he only played one game. Reading fans are complaining he seems to have given up with them and his "cameo" loans to other clubs haven't lasted long. I cant see Wilder giving him the time of day and I certainly wouldn't.

Throwing the players under the bus in only his second game. Wow just Wow 😳
I thought the manger wasn't allowed to do that ? After all Warnock got Dogs abuse for the exact same thing, didn't he ??????

That wasn't throwing the players under the bus..... naming people would have been. He was simply using it as a way of telling them we will do this together or you won't be part of it. I'd imagine a few got their arses kicked in the changing room. Jones over played the ball for me, Tav had a poor second half after an excellent 1st half.

What I see is 2 keepers (pick either) who don’t inspire confidence in the defence, the lack of a proper skipper to marshal the troops and a general ‘nice ness’ when we need to dig in and mix it. Wilder will address those issues…I hope!

You really do have an agenda don’t you,

as for throwing players under the bus, no this is called management and he’s calling his TEAM out for under performing not naming or blaming kids by calling them out by name as if to mock them.

Our last promotion capable team knew exactly what was expected of them across 90 minutes so I'm actually pleased Wilder has laid it out early on.
Sounds very much to me like we'll put the onus on the opposition to combat our style and system and not the other way around.
It might be tough on some of them, but I'll guarantee you that any successful team will follow the exact same principles.

100%

One of the most surprising (and to me, disappointing) aspects of Warnock's reign was his insistence on adapting our personnel, formation and style of play to suit the opposition. Very few successful teams in world football do this - they have their style which they believe in and they impose it on the other side (very occasionally changing things up against an equal/rival).

Wilder does not strike me as this type of manager at all - he'll install his way of playing and live or die by it.

Warnock was criticised for having 'No Plan B'
Now all of a sudden we should stick with our formation and that's it.... incredible !

I actually think a decent bit of coaching will take us to the level where things entualty click, but a couple of new signings certainly would help.

Looking back there where afew times on Daniels goal kicks where we had two players in the box waiting for a short pass but he eventually just booted it upfield and most times straight back to Preston so he could easy be one of the naughty boys not following instruction.

2 weeks of coaching has already made a difference (home match comparison):
- Number of passes has increased significantly
- Short passes has increased significantly
- Possession has increased significantly
- Pass Success has increased significantly

This will all pay dividends eventually.

If any evidence were needed that Wilder is going to be a great appointment, then this is very encouraging (y)

Interesting stats, thanks for taking the time to post them.

It was noteworthy that our stats were better last night than they were on Saturday too and they will improve more with games.

It's also a lot more attractive to watch too, which isn't an insignificant point.
