Would you keep Sporar at the end of the season?

The issue is service to him, Tav, Crooks, Jones, WAtmore need to improve their final ball, that said, Sporar should be providing them who chances .
My type of player, I hope he finds his scoring boots very soon, or CW will decide he is replaceable, although I doubt he can be sent back before the end of the season.
Uche sold, Coburn loaned out provides 2 forward options, he could become 4th choice instead of 1st.
Just need more creativity -- bring in Payero and move Tav to wingback that might get better results. Currently is just part of the build up play -- he needs to be fed balls into channels where he can latch onto them.

He’s not done as well as I’d hoped. Certainly not in the goal scoring department.

Looks a decent player. Neat and tidy. Technically good. Decent pace.

He’s missed some chances earlier in the season but lately he doesn’t even seem to be getting chances which is worrying.

On another thread recently I saw people saying he was too intelligent to get chances in our team 🙂 truth is he’s not in positions.

It’s often said I’d strikers that it’s not so much a concern to miss chances as it is to be not getting them.

Still chance ti turn it around and I hope he does but at the moment he isn’t worth the money that is being reported.

At the moment he is a skillful non scoring forward a bit like Shane Long. He gets desperate for the ball after 30 minutes and spends too much time coming deep looking for it.
So at the moment I would say no to buying him certainly at the price Sporting are asking. There is still time for him to change minds, perhaps he can change into a Jordan Ayew who had a terrific display for Palace yesterday as a non goal scoring forward for Palace

He has 5 months now of English football to prove that he can fit into the team. If we cant get him more involved in front of goal then he is not the player for us. Will having Payero back make a difference - lets hope so.

He could be brilliant elsewhere but if he doesnt score for us then it wont matter to the Boro (unless he comes back to haunt us - not many have though in a meaningful way)

Don't we have to keep him depending on performances? Pretty sure there's a clause around minimum amounts + promotion?

Whilst he was poor on Saturday I've been impressed on the whole. His movement is one of the reasons Watmore has excelled since Wilder came in.

I still think we're missing someone to link play through midfield. Both Crooks and Tav like to come from deep but I'd like to see someone ahead of them to play off Sporar (although that's arguably the job Sporar himself has been doing lately).

I think we all hoped there would be more goals and the early games were exciting, he moves well, but he does lack a bit of power and he seems lacking in confidence. ? 8 without a goal isn't great, but there has been a change in playing style that ultimately will probably help him. I think Payero back in the side would help him, someone to get their head up and play through balls down the side of the CBs.

He looks a tidy player but doesn't have quite enough in his locker. He's not strong enough on the ball and doesn't seem to be able to get into goalscoring positions. You have to ask questions when Watmore who isn't a natural striker gets himself into the right positions but Sporar really struggles to

I really think is by design rather than accident though. Sporar, who is probably the more intelligent of the two and better with the ball under pressure, drops deep taking a centre half with him and therefore creating space for Watmore in behind. He effectively plays as a "wall pass", knocking it back into midfield to allow them to pick out Watmore. Watmore's superior pace also means he better placed to make those runs in behind.

I've defended him on here but he does need to find his goalscoring boots sooner rather than later.

I do believe as a team we need to be playing to his strengths more, but proper goalscorers usually find ways of scoring, even in a side which doesn't create a host of chances. Shearer played in some pretty average Newcastle sides but never had a problem scoring goals, season upon season.

I think back to Sporars' goal at Forest. Tav played him in behind and it was a great finish. I think that's what his games all about, but Forest had a high defensive line and that's what he was able to exploit. At the Riverside in particular, it's generally going to be difficult for him to find the space in behind, as many teams will set up with a deep defensive line.

I think that's incredibly ambitious thinking. I think the reality is he's just not involved and isn't good under pressure, he surrenders possession far too easily
